Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith | The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

***POSSIBLE SPOILERS BELOW***

Star Wars EPISODE III Revenge of Sith BY PANDORA
I am filling in for Otterfreak this week and had the job of going to see the new Star Wars movie while on the clock. I want to start off by saying that I know there are two types of Star Wars fans out there: the ones that loved the originals and felt that the new ones are jokes, and the ones that love the new ones and feel the old ones are outdated. I am one of the ones that loved the old ones. So keep that in mind while reading what I have to say.

First thing I actually really did like this one. I felt that George Lucas was trying to do a better job with making it like the originals. Did it succeed? In my opinion no; but it certainly surpassed the other two new ones. However there were a few things that did bother me. The opening battle scene is action packed and has some really good choreography; but I felt there were way too many slapstick one-liner jokes going around (this does stop after this scene which kept me in the theater). There is comedic relief throughout; but it is spaced much better than in the beginning. So hang in there. Another big thing is that Hayden does “act” through a good portion of the movie and for me takes a little away from the fact that he will be Darth Vader. Now my next problem will be one that may not be a problem for many; but I personally felt misled. I was completely prepared to see a huge Wookie battle (something I always wanted to see); but the war with the Wookies was only shown for maybe a minute. Some of you out there maybe thrilled to hear that so this might also go under a plus. Another thing is Jedi’s should never be cannon fodder.

The next two things I couldn’t help but cringe over. R2-D2 is all of a sudden suped up with all these new gadgets, including the equivalent of a hand to catch things. Wow it is amazing the past is more technological than the future. The other thing is when Darth Vader takes his first steps all I can think about is Frankenstein. (Watch you will see)

Of course now you are thinking that a) why should I go see it or b)wow this girl is too picky. If it is a I am about to tell you the reasons that it is worth seeing; if it is b there is nothing I can do about it I am picky.

There is a lot of CGI in this movie but it is not as bad as it has been in previous. This one is packed with action; and I personally really enjoyed the battle between Obi Wan and Anakin. Yoda also finds himself in battle. I am so glad that they were able to make this one dark. It might not show in the beginning but once things start rolling be prepared. I had my doubts about Hayden being able to portray the evilness needed but I was pleasantly surprised by what he was able to pull off. JarJar is in this movie and you may be wondering why this is a good thing. Well he is in it for about 45 seconds spread over two places and has NO lines. I would have rather him not been in it at all; but at least you barely notice him.

One of the best things about this movie is they covered all bases. In the end they hit almost everything to bridge the movies together. Now some people may feel it is a little late, to rushed, and perhaps a little too much explanation but I felt it was done decently enough to help the transition if you watch them in order.

So this one falls 4th on my list of favorite Star Wars movies; but that is saying a lot for me because 5th is Space Balls 6th is any other movie; the other two new ones fall probably not even in the top 100 and they are Star Wars movies. This is an Otter see; like you even needed me to say that you knew you were going to see it regardless of your feelings. It’s Star Wars in theaters.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
This is the story of four best friends who all have to go their separate ways for the summer but stay connected by mailing a pair of jeans back and forth to each other that just happen to fit each girl perfectly.  The problem is that it can never decide what kind of genre it belongs to.  Sometimes it's a teen drama, sometimes it's a love story, sometimes it's about the value of life and death, but never one good movie about all of
these.  You may laugh, you may cry, but there also are times in between that you might not know why you went to see it in the first place....
