Cleopatra 2525 | Monk | The Muppet Show | Alf | Remington Steele | Lost in Space | The Dukes of Hazzard | Hercules The Legendary Journeys | The Mary Tyler Moore Show | Revelations | Roswell | Xena

Cleopatra 2525 - The Complete Series
A cryogenically frozen exotic dancer is thawed in the year 2525 and what can she do but join up with 2 other girls as a freedom fighter. Fighting against robots has never been so sexy. The acting is weak as are the plots and all around this series is a cheese fest. But at least there are barely clothed sexy women running throughout it (and that is the reason most of you are watching it aren’t you). This DVD set contains 28 episodes, deleted scenes, outtakes, and a look at the special effects and stunts. I would brave this one only if you are drawn towards sci-fi shows like Xena and always wanted there to be less clothing involved.

Worth the price? $40 = Only for the true fans, everyone else catch re-runs of Baywatch.

Monk - Season Three

Obsessive and compulsive yet ready to solve crimes Monk is back for a third season. While the first half of this season holds up to the first two seasons it starts to slip a little in the second half. Fans will be sad to say goodbye to Sharona; but the show still has an addictive quality that fans will love. And if you can overlook the fact that the DVD’s are held in thin plastic cases and then slid into a cardboard box this set is ideal for fans. It also contains the cast & crew talking about their favorite scenes, a conversation with Tony Shalhoub, the back stories of Monk, Capt. Stottlemeyer, & Lt. Disher, a conversation with Traylor Howard, and a look at Monk’s phobias and compulsions.

Worth the price? $45 = Sure to please fans & new comers; but if you are a new comer perhaps you should start with season 1.

The Muppet Show - Season One (Special Edition)
Many of us grew up watching this show as kids and while it is slightly dated now it is still sure to bring a smile to your face. There are only a few flaws with this release. Starting out you may notice that some of the voices are a little different and the episodes aren’t quite up to par; but that gets better as you watch. Also some of the episodes are edited (they removed some of the songs). The set I reviewed is fuzzy on the outside and while I’m not sure how long it will stay that way before getting nasty it is a nice touch. However I heard that not all the sets are fuzzy. Bonus features include the original pitch reel, the pilot, the ability to play with facts about the Muppets, and a gag reel. A charming show that still can amuse children; but I wish that they would put a warning about it being edited somewhere.

Worth the price? $30 = Good for kids and nostalgic reasons.

Alf - Season Two
Everyone remembers the fuzzy alien that tried to eat cats and captured the hearts many in the ‘80’s. Well the show is very dated when you go back and watch it now; but that is to be expected. But this DVD has some serious problems. First all the episodes on this DVD are the cut down syndicated versions not the originals which will have many fans upset. Also the packaging is horrible. It looks like a VHS slid into a cardboard cover, when you slid it out you discover that Disc 1 is covered by a piece of paper they call an episode guide and disc 2 & 3 are put in a little plastic piece that is falling out of the main case. I know fans of ALF will want this set because there really isn’t another option out there; but you will find yourself very disappointed even with the 2 cartoon ALF episodes.

Worth the price? $30 = Pushing it for even real fans.

Click Here to buy Alf in our store - ON SALE NOW!!

Remington Steele - Season 1
Take mysteries, murders, & thefts and mix them in with humor, romance, and a little bit of campiness and you get Remington Steele. Pierce Brosnan played a wonderful, charming, and sexy Remington; but who can forget Stephanie Zimbalist? Well the DVD seems to have a little by mainly putting their focus on Pierce for the artwork and later adding a small sticker to the front with Stephanie’s name on it. This and the double sided discs though are the only things I don’t like about this release. The DVD’s contain all 22 season 1 episodes, commentary on some episodes, character profiles, and a making of. This show still has a sophisticated air about it and with the who-dunnit and chemistry of the two main characters you can’t help but to get wrapped up in the season.

Worth the price? $30 = Great for fans of the show or even of Pierce Brosnan or mysteries.

Click Here to buy Remington Steele in our store - ON SALE NOW!!

Lost in Space - Season 3, Vol. 2 (1967)
This is it, the final episodes of the show Lost In Space. The footage is in need of being cleaned though. It jumps here and there, looks dusty, and very old. I know it is old; but I have seen some pretty decent clean ups before. The only bonus features are interviews with Jonathan Harris and Bill Mumy (which was on Lost in Space Forever) and a rare outtake. Probably not the treatment fans were hoping for; but there is no other choice if you want to finish off your set.

Worth the price? $22 = You have to finish your set.

Click Here to buy Lost in Space in our store - ON SALE NOW!!

The Dukes of Hazzard - The Complete Fourth Season
Finally, finally, finally the discs are not double sided! So instead of 4 discs you will get 9 discs. It has kept with the episode summaries (which I love) and you also have commentary for episode 2 “Double Dukes” by John Schneider, Catherine Bach, & Tom Wopat and a look by the cast and crew at what made the show great. While there isn’t as many bonus features as there were on season 1 release they are getting the treatment fans will love. The stories are nothing but car chases, short shorts, fights, and the Dukes winning in the end; but they sure are enjoyable.

Worth the price? $30 = Can you say Yee Haw? This is one to pick up.

Click Here to buy The Dukes of Hazzard in our store - ON SALE NOW!!

Hercules The Legendary Journeys - Season 6
The final season of Hercules has only 8 episodes; but it doesn’t mean it doesn’t still pack a punch. There are bloodthirsty vampires, crazed Amazons, Autolycus maybe robbing the first bank of Greece, and then the final episode Full Circle. There are also tons of bonus features. Commentaries and interviews with Kevin Sorbo, Paul Robert Coyle, and Michael Hurst, a bringing monsters to life featurette, photo gallery, the wrap party, behind the scenes of the final episode, alternate titles, and more on the CD-Rom. While the set is a little smaller than the other DVD’s and may not line up exactly perfect on your shelf (which I would have to say if you don’t buy it for this reason you might want to get help) this release is sure to please fans.

Worth the price? $30 = That’s not too much to say goodbye to a friend.

The Mary Tyler Moore Show - The Complete Second Season
This release will captivate its fans all over again. The footage is clean and sharp for its age, and the comedy will still have you laughing even if it is a little dated. But what is impressive is the bonus features. There is commentary on 2 episodes by Edward Asner, Treva Silverman, and Jay Sandrich and commentary by Gavin McLeod and Peter Baldwin on 1 episode, a trivia challenge, photo gallery, Emmy awards show clip, theme song karaoke track, Newsbeat Segment (not that funny), Mad Magazine parody, a documentary on the 8 main characters, and a look at the filming of the opening credits scene. What is not impressive is where they put it. The first two disc are one sided, but the 3rd disc is double sided with the bonus features crammed all on the back side. But what can you do?

Worth the price? $20 = Great steal for fans. Never seen it? Keep on walking.

Revelations
This show is filled with controversy, and appears to be a love or hate show too. Those that love it find the story of a nun leading an astrophysicist into a world of believers and Satanists to battle for mankind to be captivating. Those that hate it either feel that Christianity is being crammed down their throats or that Christianity is being misinterpreted. The show certainly has a Hollywood feel; but can hold your attention if you don’t mind a little different viewpoint on religion. The last episode had some fans shaking their heads wondering if they wasted their time. So what does the DVD offer that you didn’t see on TV, interviews with Natascha McElhone, Michael Masses, David Seltzer, and Bill Pullman and deleted scenes.

Worth the price? $23 = 6 hours it’s not a bad price. You need to ask yourself a question though. For fans do you need to see it again? For those that missed it, did you care that you missed it on TV?

Roswell - The Complete Third Season (The Final Chapter)
The last season of Roswell may leave fans with some unanswered questions and the feeling like the end was rushed. On top of that you may find some of the songs you enjoyed in the show gone and replaced with others. On the other hand you have commentary by Jonathan Frakes, Ronald D. Moore, and Jason Katims on selected episodes, class of 2002 feature (summary of the season), and Shiri Appleby’s appearance on Japanese TV. This season has Michael taking a job at a pharmaceutical company, Max finds a communication device that can link him to his son, Isabel is getting married, Maria goes after her dream of becoming a singer, and of course graduation.

Worth the price? $40 = True fans of course will buy this; but that may mean you will have to work a little overtime to get this and The O.C.

Xena - The 10th Anniversary Collection
This DVD set features 16 fan selected episodes: Sins of the Past, Callisto, Is There a Doctor in the House, A Day in the Life, Been There Done That, The Bitter Suite, One Against An Army, The Ides of March, Fallen Angel, Lyre Lyre Hearts on Fire, Amphipolis Under Siege, Motherhood, Old Ares Had a Farm, When Fates Collide, Many Happy Returns, and A Friend in Need Part 1 &2. Please look over those and make sure you agree that those should be the 16 chosen ones. Also this DVD features commentaries with Lucy Lawless & Renee O’Connor (this are the same on the season releases) Robert Tapert, Eric Gruendemann, and RJ Stewart, interviews with the cast, the 2005 Xena Convention, fan contests for the biggest fan, fan submitted Xena reenactments, interview with Robert Trebor, how Hong Kong films influenced Xena, Mythology vs. Xena, Zoe Bell talks about being a stuntwoman, a look at the extras, and a look at the career of Bruce Campbell. The case is very nice with beautiful silver print on the front; but for some reason there is just a piece of paper barely glued onto the back. The one on my set almost came off from me picking it up. The inside does contain tons of artwork.

Worth the price? $50 = First make sure those are episodes that you really love, second haven’t you already shelled out several $100 on the full seasons? The extras are really not $50 worth; but I’m sure fans will still buy it.
