Wait, let me clarify that: I love discovering new awesome music.

I just posted my most anticipated list for 2009 the other day and in that short time I've already come across four bands (4!!) that I need to share with you guys. I could inundate you with all of them right now, but where's the fun in that? I'll blog about one today and then more as the week progresses. So without any further ado...

Ladies and gentlefiends, I give you Cactus's!

Yes, that's right. Not just Cactus or Cacti (plural). Cactus's...possessive. I like these guys already.

Here's the skinny on Cactus's. They play a form of frenetic, thrashy punk that's actually become harder and harder to find these days. Equal parts inspired by Fugazi, Converge and Refused, these guys tear it up with a ferocity that's breath-taking and refreshing. Their music will rip your ears off, run them through harsh guitar strings like paper through a shredder and then slap the bloody masses back on the sides of your head.

Based out of Nashville, they're starting to get noticed and the buzz around them is building. They recently announced on their MySpace that they'll be appearing at SXSW, so I expect that we'll be hearing more from these guys in the coming year.
