If your only experience with Emilio Estevez's directing capabilities was MEN AT WORK, then you need to give him another chance. The War At Home is an amazing film with an amazing ensemble cast consisting of Estevez as a veteran returning from Vietnam and suffering through massive post-traumatic stress disorder. Kathy Bates brilliantly portrays his mother in a heart-wrenching performance and real-life father Charlie Sheen plays his father to pinpointed excellence. If you are looking for a film that has all-around perfection, The War At Home is probably the best you can find.
