One Moment in Time, that’s what I’m going to talk about so if you haven’t read that story line in Amazing Spider-Man title then stop reading this. I will have spoilers in this and want to let anyone know that might read it.
One Moment in Time, just more and more disappointment for Amazing Spider-Man title. Why is this being done to such great characters? What I’m talking about is the story line where it’s finally explained what happened from when Peter Parker and Mary Jane talked to Mephisto to where they are currently at in the comic.

In other words it’s how to take apart a great character in only 4 issues.

It all started with the One More Day story line, then went into Brand New Day, and now finally ends with this One Moment in Time. So Peter didn’t make a deal with Mephisto, which is the only part in this whole horrible mess that’s been made of the Spider-Man title. With Peter not making a deal with Mephisto, who if you don’t know is basically the devil, that’s right the freaking devil. Just exactly when did it get so bad that Spider-Man, the only character that had a good core, maybe the only character that was still good, and then make him making a deal with the devil? But of course it didn’t end there, they had to take away the relationship between Peter and Mary Jane.

That’s what issues 638 to 641 of Amazing Spider-Man did, tell the story of why Peter and Mary Jane is not together. Sure it also threw in there the reason as to why no one remembers that Spider-Man unmasked back in Civil War.

Why that whole story was done in the first place was just stupid. Spider-Man needs a new injection of life in him so lets demask him, then shortly after have him making a deal with the devil, then taking away relationship between Peter and Mary Jane. But wait, if that’s not enough lets now take the deal with the devil and make it where it really didn’t happen, it was Mary Jane that really made the deal, then he wasn’t the one that erased the memories of everyone on the planet to forget that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, instead it was Dr. Strange, Reed Richards, and Tony Stark that did it.
Think that was enough? Nope.

In the story line they make Mary Jane not want to marry Peter because he was trying to stop a criminal where he fell and was knocked out. She now can’t handle the fact that he’s Spider-Man but she still wants to be with him. Wait, that was in the comics that we never saw because after Brand New Day they wasn’t together so we never got to see any of this between them. Guess that’s what these 4 issues are for, showing how to end a relationship that’s has been there since the mid 200 issues of the title.

But before now as much as I was hating that they wasn’t together I still had the hope and idea that they would eventually get back together. That they would just be doing the whole redating scene between the two and then eventually things back on track. I could handle that but the way One Moment in Time ends with Mary Jane telling Peter to move on, that she’s not the one for him, that there’s someone else out there for him just popped my bubble.
This just irks me to a whole other level. What’s going to happen now with there being no Peter and MJ? Oh I know, we’re going to get Peter going through girl after girl trying to figure out how to lie to them as he ditches out on the date that was set up after he goes out being Spider-Man. And/or we will get him in the date but not being able to figure out what to do or say or he things will go fine at first but then he will do the normal Peter Parker thing and get in a fight with a villain or must hide the fact that he’s a superhero so the girl leaves. I don’t want this, I don’t want to read this, I can get this by reading the titles of Spider-Man Marvel Adventures and Ultimate Spider-Man.
I just can’t understand or like why this was done to this character. My favorite character is Spider-Man and it feels like his whole character and reason for being that is getting taken away and replaced with something that has already happened. I’m so not happy with this turn of story that it’s tough to get down exactly what I want to say. So simply put.
Hating the new path Amazing Spider-Man is getting taken down!
