SPIDER-MAN BEGINS HIS AVENGING:
If you read my blogs you already know that Spidey is my favorite character, if you don’t read them, hey Spidey is my favorite character. Which when I found out that another Spider-Man title called Avenging Spider-Man was in the works I’m not ashamed to say that I was a little giddy over the news. During the passing weeks and months there was previews of what the new title was going to look like and what it was going to be about and it just made me even more excited.

So here it is the week the new title Avenging Spider-Man issue #1 has came out on and I’m now more excited about the title than before. Avenging Spider-Man has taken the idea of the Marvel Team-Up title but now it’s more intense, or seems that way with issue 1. This issue starts off with Spidey out fighting some giant A.I.M.robot alongside Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Spiderwoman, Wolverine, Red Hulk, and Hawkeye and it’s wonderful. Though the fight is going full tilt with the other heroes flying/jumping in to take down this robot, Spidey has a moment where you can tell that he just wants to be anywhere else but there. Adding more to the moment is when Spidey says that he’s not going to be taking down a giant robot. Of course he does fight, the robot goes down, and after a few pages of attacking Moloids, there’s the 2 page spread where Spidey is needing a lift back into the city. Here’s the page, the simple 2 word response by the other heroes had me laughing to near tears in my eyes.

THE SCARLET RISES AGAIN:
Though this is not the only Spidey title that’s in the works, there’s another title soon to come out that I’m not yet sure on. Making his return is the Scarlet Spider. Why though? This is not one of the finer moments in the history of Spider-Man, it’s one that should be forgotten or actually do what they did with the whole One More Day by erasing the history of Spidey and his marriage to Mary Jane. Then again it could be stated that this is not the original Scarlet Spider since the first was the clone Ben Reilly but in the new title that just came out Marvel Point One, it’s Kaine that’s going to be the Scarlet Spider. He no longer looks like a evil giant spider but is a Peter Parker clone with a beard and long hair and now a new costume. Well, I guess it could be a new one since he is wearing a hoodie, it’s blue not red, but still, the first Scarlet Spider wore the red hoodie.

I didn’t like the first Scarlet Spider mainly because it was during the plot of neither Peter or Ben knew who was the real Peter Parker and who was the clone. At one point Peter thought he was the Clone and Ben was the real one, so Peter and MJ left, leaving Ben being the new Spider-Man. This was basically Marvels first try at the changing Spider-Man like they did in One More Day and it was also horrible. All that was changed to make it where Peter was the real Peter Parker and Ben was the clone, which put the life of Spidey back on track (at least for a little while). Now we are going to be getting another Scarlet Spider, it’s still a clone, and though it’s Kaine, the history is still there, the memories aren’t going away, and it makes me wonder if it will be any good. As a end note though, Marvel Point One story “The Scarlet Thread” that’s about Kaine starts off with him in Charlotte NC, that was just cool to see a city that I live at in a comic that I read.
