I'm watching. I think Kerry made a mistake in thanking everyone in his first question; but has recovered nicely since. Bush on the other hand I feel has been struggling to get out what he is thinking. There is a lot of stuttering, pausing, and repeating. The Daily Show is doing a live special about the debate tonite at 11 if you are interested.

ok, I know we are a considered a "news outlet" of sorts and we are supposed to stay biased, but we don't report on politics so screw that. We have Bush supporters working here (see SFJoey) and we have Kerry supporters that work here (see Pandora). We are all still friends and don't let that get in the way.

anyway, Bush sucks. ok, that was just to get Joey going. I watched the debates and I thought Kerry performed better, hands down. I agree with Pandora that he shouldn't have thanked everyone in his opening questions, that was pretty lame. They both had the blinking light a few times, so that isn't a totally valid point against either of them, that'll happen in a debate.

Kerry was quick to answer without stalling of "uhhh's" and "and...and...and...and's." There was a lot of creepy staring on Bush's part while not talking as if he was waiting for the invisible world beyond the camera to answer back to him before realizing that he wouldn't be able to hear it anyway. Bush repeated himself a lot and politically sidestepped a lot of the questions by repeatedly going back to the issue in Iraq (ironic since this debate was supposed to revolved around domestic issues).

all in all, speaking on an admittadly biased point of view, Kerry appeared much more gatthered, professional and educated that Bush did. Maybe Bush had a bad night? We'll see next Friday.

Im watching it right now. Jon Stewart is totally trashing Bush's 3 second pauses every 10 words and all the stuttering :p

I love the Daily Show. You get the news in a funny manner without all the stuffy speeches using words that they had to use a thesarus for. But I am interested to hear what Bush supporters have to say about the debate. I am biased so I was looking for flaws on the Bush side; but I really would like to hear flaws that were seen on the Kerry side.

It's funny to see both sides speking on how they think the debate went.On one side the Kerry suporters are saying that Kerry kick Bush's ass, but Giulani just spoke and he said that he couldn't understand what Kerry was trying to say and that he contradicted himself a lot of times(wich he did) and that Bush was clearly the winner of the debate.
That's what I like about the daily show I don't know what Jon Stewart is going to vote for but they always take it from a neutral point of view.

And I agree that Bush sounded as stupid as I think he is, it look like Cheney's microphone had a 10 second delay.

Watched the debates here in Idaho. (Man...I'm still here...this stinks). All I could do was shake my head and laugh when I looked at Bushs' flows. Oration and debate are not his strong points. I think he held it together about as well as he could the first half hour, but the last hour was all down hill for the President. I thought that Kerry was clearly the winner in tonights debates.

I have been on the email list for both Kerry and Bush for many months now. I like hearing both sides and what is up-coming for each. Yes they are biased; but it is still interesting to read. I have received emails from both about the debate last night. I am going to post part of both emails for you to read how each party feels it went.

Kerry's campaign:

Tonight's debate was a decisive victory for John Kerry because America saw him as our next president. He showed strength, conviction, and a steady command of the facts. He offered clear plans for Iraq and fighting terrorism.

George Bush has a record of failure to defend, and he failed to defend it. The president just gave us more of the same shallow promises.

Bush's campaign:

Over the next few days, at the office, at your children's football or soccer games, and in your homes, people will be talking about last night's debate. Here are some important facts to keep in mind as you're talking with friends and neighbors about the exchange.

President Bush spoke clearly and from the heart last night about the path forward - toward victory and security - in the War on Terror. The President spoke candidly about the difficulties facing our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan as these countries prepare for their first free elections. The terrorists will continue to fight these steps toward freedom because they fear the optimism and hope of democracy. They fear the prospects for their ideology of hate in a free and democratic Middle East.

President Bush detailed a path forward in the War on Terror - a plan that will ensure that America fights the enemy in Iraq and Afghanistan - not in America's cities.

John Kerry failed the one test he had to pass last night: he failed to close the credibility gap he has with the American people as his record of troubling contradiction and vacillation spiraled down to incoherence.

ok....round two!!

This one was closer, I must say. Kerry won the first half, hands down. Bush was yelling loudly in the first half and very rudely interrupted the moderator while he was trying to ask a question and then ignored him and started just talking.

second half, someone must have signalled for Bush to settle down because he did. Kerry began to not fully answer the questions he was asked and kept going back to health care and that's not what the whole debate was about. Bush won the second half, it hurts me to say.

so, overall, who do I think won? It was like a baseball game going into 17 innings and Bush had a forced run in the bottom of the inning. Not only does he have the win, that is the last thing people remember, so that's all that matters. So, if a winner HAS to be pulled, it was Bush, but definetely not the critical blow he was hoping for. Even though the debates are technically tied right now, it still seems as if Kerry is up one on the President. This is really coing down to the wire. We'll see how next Wednesday goes...

Bush will win, you know it. So go ahead and vote for Kerry...he is going to lose. Its just that simple.

I only watched 1 debate and I have to say that I have more respect for both candiates than before but I still prefer Nader over Bush or Kerry. Sad thing is that a war time president usually gets reelected the only thing that might force Bush out is the economy folk just aren't happy when they are broke. Kerry is a good talker but people just don't like that he married well. Personally, I think that Bush is a loser who ruined every business he had his hands on-why should the country trust him? And, how long did it take to send truops after 911? How about the 911 warnings that were ignored? And, after years of drinking and avioding combat Bush is now a bigtime 'faith' based president? At least Kerry didn't use his family name to get out of combat duty or to gain notoriety. but Nader, he supports true Americans and he finds solutions for their problems. He fights for what is right no matter what it costs-that is a true gentleman and a man who walks his talk!

I'm Not Saying That Im Voteing For Kerry Or Bush, But Personally I Think That Kerry Will Win. Because Of Economics And Whats Going On In Irac. Too Many Americans Are Still Being Killed Every Week, Kidnappings. And Kerry Not Really Scared To Fight A War.

So true, the effects of the war don't play for Bush's reelection. Other than being broke folk don't like their sons and fathers being killed fighting a war that no one really understands.
