Revitalization show? Is it to revitalize punk or revitalize the Masq? I thought it was closing?
Revitalization show? Is it to revitalize punk or revitalize the Masq? I thought it was closing?
That was my word since punk's not really mainstream music anymore (not that it ever was, but at least it used to be a bit more popular than now) it's just a show that features punk bands. Not revitalization of the masq.

Punk went away? I guess I've been going to several as of late. But you are right... now it's more poppy with a tiny ounce of punk influence but not really. HA!
And Masq should have been closed down for years... here's to another year before they shut the place down... right! Where else would bands play in the city that are not mainstream?
Feel free to post ATL events and happenings on this thread too :D

Chinese New Year this year falls on Feb. 7th, but the celebration at Chinatown's CCC is this weekend. Sat. and Sun. 9, 10th.
http://www.atlantachinatown.com/
$5 entry fee, they give you $2 of it back as food coupons. There's going to be a ton o vendors there, a lot of different types of Chinese foods :), dragon dances, activities, souvenirs. Be warned though, can be filled to the brim with ppl. Parking can get hectic so carpool if possible, there's additional parking at the Marta Station near by. Located at the back of China Town in the Chinese Cultural Center bldg, just follow the stream of ppl if you don't know where it is.

I am not a big fan of all-you-can-eat places, but there was a restaurant serving not-too-bad-quality-for-buffet-Sushi, Udon/Soba, Tempura, hot/cold items, Green Tea & Azuki cakes in Sandy Springs. I think they had fried oysters but it was closed because the Korean owner passed away. I wish someone took the place over.
Oh, wait, there is one place I go occasionally (sorry, no oyster though...). I love Sweet Tomatoes. They have fresh salad items, and I can build the way I want it. If you love salad like me, this is the place. If you don't like salad, well, you can also get a variety of soups, pastas & breads/muffins.

Buckhead Backlot to reopen as Fork & Screen … and serve cocktails
By Bob Longino | Tuesday, July 1, 2008, 07:23 AM
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The Buckhead Backlot, closed for several weeks for remodeling of its six screening rooms and kitchen, will re-open July 11 as the AMC Fork & Screen Buckhead.
Odd name, but the dinner-and-a-movie spot not only has new plush seating but will serve cocktails in addition to beer and wine. Admission will be limited to those 18 and older. Minors can enter only if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
In addition to food and drinks being served in screening rooms, the theater will have MacGuffins, a bar area with seating.
A sampling of the menu: burgers, wraps, grilled sandwiches, pizzettas, pasta, fried shrimp, appetizers and desserts.
A sampling of the cocktails: 16 specialty drinks, including margaritas, martinis, the requisite Cosmopolitan, and full bar selections.
The re-opening of the Fork & Screen follows the recent unveiling of the revamped, family-friendly Northlake Festival Movie Tavern in Tucker, which serves casual food and alcoholic beverages.
And another spot, Cinebistro, a dinner-and-a-movie theater from Birmingham-based Cobb Theaters, plans to open in 2009 in Brookhaven. It will cater to an upscale, adults-only crowd.
