this guy needs a history lesson. badly. the first colonies were in the south, hell THE first colony was in the south, course they moved, but thats where it was. and the alabama ten commandments thing was state taxes, not federal taxes wasnt it? this seems more like a red state/blue state thing than a south/north thing. not saying that the guy doesnt have some serious issues. damn yankees.

lmao. well, I have to say since I moved down here I have had enough of southerners. They have been rude and arrogant to me and my family. But there is 1 thing I would like to say. Who cares if someone wants to put up a confederate flag, that is there business. Why can't everyone just express themselves without everyone and there brother protesting.

Trust me when I say this, but you will get that no matter where you go. By generalizing and saying "[Southerners] have been rude and arrogant..." implies that "all" southerners are. I won't disagree that there are those who hate Northerners without a cause. I myself have had a confrontation with some, but I have also have had confrontations with Northerners (I am neither Southern or Northern). If we leave this small demographic and look at other countries then we could generalize them as well. I have been insulted by Germans, Icelandics, English, Japanese, and French. On the same token I have been treated with the utmost respect by all the same peoples. When it really comes down to it, it has to do with our position on the values they hold and whether we can respect them and their values even if it contradicts our own.

Being a transplant myself - I have found Southerners to be MUCH more polite than Northerners in general. But the lines are getting more blurred. People are people wherever you go. Some are nice. Some are not so nice. Folks just need to lighten up and stop the hate.

Interestingly enough there are so many people from the north that are now living in the south. I'm from the south. I am married to someone who is from the north. Love him. Love where he's from. Love his friends and family. Hate the confederate flag being flown, because it's not a flag that unites our precious country. We are one nation with one flag. Let us all stop living in the past so that we can continue to grow for our children's future. If you aren't happy in the south, you can always move back to the north.

I moved from one side of the country to the other and am now living in the South. To be quite honest the biggest difference is, and I know for a fact, where I came from you simply existed. There were problems but nothing that is absent from the South. Here in the South people aren't afraid to say hello to one another or help one another without even knowing the person they are helping. I love it here and can't see myself living anywhere else again. Not to say that its perfect. Anyone who watches the news will see that crime has run rampant in Charlotte and people are getting gunned down like metal ducks at a carnival but thats no different then from the West Coast.
