The fourth season of Dawson came out on October 4, 2004. The earliest the fifth season will be out is March, but no date is set yet. I think I stopped watching this show after season 2, so maybe I'll rent them and catch up once they are all out.

A few other things I have heard :

1) Star Wars Episode 3 will be out in November .
2) Live 8 will also be out on dvd in November but the catch is that the
release will be geared toward the country it comes out in. So the US
release will be focused on Philly, the UK release on London,etc...hopefully
EMI will release a mega set for those 'wanting it all'.
3) Battlestar Galactica (the Sci-Fi channel series) will have the UK version
released by Best Buy EXCLUSIVELY on 7/26 (the discs will play on Region
1 dvd players). It will not be available from anyone else UNTIL 9/20.
(I checked this and it appears to be true....)

re: Live 8

According to the shows organizer, Bob Geldof, this show is to NEVER come out on DVD. It was meant to be a once in a lifetime event and to never be seen again. He had it in the TV contracts (for MTV, VH1, ABC, etc) that it is NOT to be videotaped, just overdubbed to be played at a reasonable time in foreign countries and immediately erased. There are bootlegs turning up on eBay because some of the people did record but Geldof may be suing the stations that recorded.

So, to sum up, according to Geldof, this is to NEVER come out on DVD.

FOR GROUNDBREAKING DVD SERIES

27th June 2005


LONDON, 27 JUNE 2005 -- EMI and Live 8 have concluded a unique agreement whereby EMI will provide the Live 8 organisation with a major financial contribution in return for the worldwide DVD rights to its 2 July concerts in the UK, US, Canada, France, Germany and Italy.



In November, EMI expects to release locally tailored DVDs around the world featuring live footage from the concerts. Artists who will perform at the concerts include Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi, Coldplay, Sheryl Crow, Deep Purple, Dido, Green Day, Jay-Z, Elton John, Annie Lennox, Linkin Park, Madonna, Maroon 5, Paul McCartney, Pink Floyd, REM, Scissor Sisters, Sting, Joss Stone, U2, Keith Urban, Velvet Revolver, Robbie Williams, Brian Wilson and Stevie Wonder.



Bob Geldof said: "I hope this will be the biggest selling DVD of all time. It deserves to be. More importantly perhaps, it should be, for it will help us achieve our goal of changing the lives of the extreme poor for the better and making our generation the one that helped end the disgrace of poverty.

Thundercats isn't that bad. you can get it for under $40 at some places. I think it retails for $65. That's about on par with most boxed sets. Now, what X-Files and Queer as Folk used to cost (well over $100 per set) is a LOT.

I don't think there will be another release of Goonies any time soon as the previous release was not bare-bones, it was actually a decent DVD with deleted scenes and current commentary by the cast. My Aunt lives in Astoria. I've never been but I hear it's great out there. Be sure to post pictures!

Yes, Goonies 2 was tentatively titled The Groonies. No joke. They were planning on making a sequel revolving around Sean Astin, grown-up. His kid keeps pronouncing Goonies "Groonies," hence the title. Astin tells the story to his kid, who, in turn, goes on an adventure of his own with his friends. According to Spielberg, the idea has been scrapped. Not because of script or story problems but because of Spielberg's heavy schedule as well as Sean Astin's finally budding career.

Paramount has officially confirmed Hawaii Five-O: The First Season for release on 3/6, along with Sabrina, The Teenage Witch: The Complete First Season and South Park: The Complete Ninth Season. Following on 3/13 are Bosom Buddies: The First Season, I Love Lucy: The Complete 7th, 8th & 9th Seasons and Max & Ruby: Easter with Max & Ruby. On 3/20 look for JAG: The Complete Third Season, Sleeper Cell American Terror: The Complete Second Season and The Wild Wild West: The Complete Second Season.

Warner has set Justice League Unlimited: The Complete Second Season and Batman Beyond: Season 3 for release on 2/13. They also have Without a Trace: The Complete Second Season due on 2/6.

Interestingly, 20th Century Fox is preparing to release 24: Season 6 Premiere on 1/16 (SRP $14.98). It includes the first four hours of the new season (which debut on Fox on 1/14 and 1/15), plus a 12-minute preview of the next episode. What a cool idea! I saw that. I decided to go to Target since I had a gift card. I wasn't interested in the gift set. Best Buy used to offer stuff like that free with DVD purchase. Lately, they have started to charge for it. On the front of the DVD, you can text for extra footage from season 2 and a sneak peek for season 3. I haven't checked it out yet though.

The Emmy-nominated variety program ended its critically-acclaimed CBS-TV run after just one season (1963-64). Today, those 26 shows are revered by many as the entertainment icon’s finest work. Singing then-new material as well as the classics expected of her, this is the legendary Judy at her peak. Also featured in volume one of this 13-volume collector’s set is daughter Liza Minnelli, now a legend in her own right.
