This is probably the best game I've played... EVER.
It's a massively multiplayer simulation of World War II. You can be a tanker, infantry man, navy captain, or pilot. The graphics aren't spectacular, but the visible distances are astounding! The developers modeled europe to 1/2 scale.
You can see literally for miles. It's insane, and terrifying to see a column of enemy panzers approaching your city from an outpost. But, you can get on the radio and tell your squadmates... and they'll set up an ambush for them with Anti Tank guns.
It's not fast twitch action like Halo of BF1942. This game takes planning, organization, and patience. Putting together the human resources to stage a successful attack takes considerable effort and precise execution.
It's really one of the most difficult games to play, simply because everyone you are facing is a real human being. But, that makes success that much more rewarding.

i'll agree that this game is big. a little too big for my taste. if you dont have a ride, you're in for a decent walk.
the 2 major factors i look for in a game:
1. Graphics. it's 2004 and damnit, i want a game that looks stunning. i want to have the urge to take a screenshot of some scenery. bad graphics ruin alot of games for me. it's all about the look
2. Controls. there is a standard when it comes to PC game controls. slight revisions and/or an option to customize controls is very important.
WW2O was smart enough to stick with the basics as far as controls go. driving the vehicles is easy and you can edit your button config... but it could have worked on the graphics a bit, and this could hurt the game.
for example, FFX1's registered users dropped 50% after the free month was over. the graphics were great (i would expect nothing less from the FF people) but the controls were horrible. i've never used the keypad so much in my life. this game was obviously designed to be played with a 5 button mouse and a gamepad. (great in asia, not in US) oh well..
i give WW2O a thumbs up

Do you still play?
I had to unsub for the first time in three years simply because I don't have the time for videogames right now. But, I still love the game.
They've added visual damage and they redid the trees. It looks pretty neet. I want to resub and check it out.

Graphics don't overwhelm me. I'd rather play a game with superb, unique gameplay than gorgeous graphics.

I want it all. Action, Adventure, Graphics, Excellent plot. I want to be sucked into the game to distract me from the tragedy that is my life. (work) When I'm involved in a game, I don't want to be reminded about the miscellaneous tasks that I should be doing. If I wasn't so responsible, I'd be playing 24/7 and living with my parents. The game industry loves me.

do you play text based games? ugh.. those are ALL story and no graphics.
how boring

No. I don't. I tried a multiplayer text based game called nukezone, once. It couldn't hold my attention.
As I said, it's the gameplay that draws me in. Story in video games bores me. If I wanted story I'd read a book or watch a movie. I skip cutscenes whenever I can.
My pet peeve is a game that forces you to watch cutscenes.
I'll play any game that has unique or fresh gameplay, regardless of story and graphics. One of my favorite examples is skeeball (if you consider that a game). I'll play skeeball all day long, and there's no story behind it - and the graphics suck. ;-)

and i just play games to shoot people or npc's i dont care about story or gameplay i just like the graphics. If i shoot someone in the arm and you can see the little bits of crap on the wall behind them then im happy. Also any game that allows me to demolish the environment i.e. Red Faction for PS2 that game pwns.

Slick has some "issues"
i like the cutscenes if they are done well. Like the Final Fantasy series. they have amazing graphics and detailed storylines.
