PULSE TO RUN 4-WEEK SOULCATCHER PREVIEW IN MARCH

March 6, 2005

The comic books news site THE PULSE (http://www.comicon.com/pulse/) will
be running an exclusive four-week preview of SOULCATCHER, a 56-page
graphic novel coming from Alias Enterprises in April from SWORD OF
DRACULA creator Jason Henderson, with art from Lou Manna, Terry Pallot,
Leslie Barkley and Ed Dukeshire. "The Pulse will feature 4 installments
of 7 pages each," Henderson explained. "Every installment will be
accompanied by a commentary article-so this week introduces the whole
story, and in the next three we'll visit with artists Lou Manna and
Terry Pallot and colorist Leslie Barkley to get their perspectives on
their work and the challenges of independent comics-and on SOULCATCHER
in particular."

SOULCATCHER is a unique project well-suited to the standalone GN format,
Henderson said. "SOULCATCHER is a horror-suspense story introduces a new
hero, Roma Lockman, in a world we tried to make eerily real. Every ghost
is a real ghost, which is pretty creepy when you meet the one called The
Crab Lady." In SOULCATCHER, a young, smart and sexy widow comes to New
Orleans, the "the most haunted city in America," in search of the ghost
of her dead husband. Instead she discovers she has the power to absorb
the abilities of the recently dead-and uncovers a mystery the spirit
world will kill to protect.

"I love that SOULCATCHER will be a stand-alone graphic novel because it
lets the reader get the whole story in one setting," Henderson said.
"But we gotta getcha there: So we're presenting readers with the first
half of SOULCATCHER at the PULSE because I wanted people to get a feel
for the tale and see that this isn't your usual New Orleans fare-there
is old and ancient pain here, and a new hero or two."

Jason Henderson is the creator of the indy comic SWORD OF DRACULA,
called "the most innovative take on Dracula in a century," which has
just come out in a Season 1 collection and returns late Summer 2005 with
Season 2. He's the co-creator of the Image comic SYLVIA FAUST and the
Marvel Comics character Sofia Strange, daughter of Doctor Strange. His
latest novel THE DARKLING BAND is due out from Dragon Moon Press in
early 2006. The Soulcatcher website is at

May 9, 2005. This Wednesday premieres the Digital Webbing and Alias Enterprises supernatural thriller SOULCATCHER, a one-shot graphic novel written and created by SWORD OF DRACULA creator Jason Henderson with art by Lou Manna (PHANTOM) and Terry Pallot (SWORD OF DRACULA), with colors by Leslie Ann Barkley (SYLVIA FAUST).

SOULCATCHER tells the story of a young, smart and sexy widow (Roma Canto) who comes to New Orleans, the "the most haunted city in America," in search of the ghost of her dead husband. Instead she discovers she has the power to absorb the abilities of the recently dead-and uncovers a mystery the spirit world will kill to protect. Roma Canto meets a ghost-hunter named Chris Lockman, the latest in a long line of "Witchfinders," guardians since ancient times. Chris can see the ghosts around every corner-and he begins to guide Roma through the city when Chris realizes the ghosts are gunning for her.

Preview critical responses were very positive- - website "Comic Fanatic" called SOULCATCHER's first chapter "one creepy, extremely well written ghost story that will leave you begging for more.if your heart can take it!" while the site "Broken Frontier" called it "a stylish, creepy story... a brilliant book... enriched by the history of the Most Haunted City in America. Soulcatcher easily rivals JMS' MIDNIGHT NATION and Frank Miller's SIN CITY."

Henderson spent time as a travel writer in New Orleans, gathering authentic ghost stories to put into the tale. "That was the challenge we set for the team-the book had to look right and feel right. For instance, the house where the "Crab Lady," the ghost who hides in an attic and keeps track of the goings-on of the spirit world, is a real house. The coffee-shops Roma and Chris visit and the ghost in the tea shop and streets are real. I wanted to show the real New Orleans, to give a real tour of the Most Haunted City in America."

The book marks yet another lead female protagonist for Henderson, whose most recent series have included SWORD OF DRACULA, which returns this Summer and features female commando Ronnie Van Helsing, SYLVIA FAUST, a romantic comedy about a young witch in Greenwich Village, and STRANGE MAGIC, a Marvel Comic about the mysterious Sofia Strange. "My goal is to eventually team them all up," said Henderson. The comic website THE PULSE recently ran a 4-week preview of SOULCATCHER, which can be accessed along with other information at the Soulcatcher site.
