In order to start over your percentages on a clean slate, we would have to completely wipe out ALL of your old points that you have earned up until the new site launched. If we do this, you will NOT have your old points to spend when we unveil the Shakefire.comTIPS program (to purchase CDs, DVDs, and other stuff). Would you like it removed?

I think those of us who don't participate in BOS would find no benefit to this either.

N0 WAY! Let's keep it going for those of us who have been around awhile. I welcome the new people who join us but they need to earn their points the hard way, like we have!
btw, SFJohnny, any idea when we will be able to spend our points and/or unveil the Shakefire.comTIPS program??

actually, Otter, everyone that has posted has points. You also get a point for each of your posts so you have over 400 now.
moviemaven - we are still working with different partners in order to establish more things for you to be able to buy so I don't have an ETA yet but it shoulnd't be too long.

I meant that if we don't participate in Box Office Showdown we would not want our TIPS points wiped out just so the BOS percentages could start over.

I dont know who are all those 7 people who have voted so far, but I think that votes by newbies shouldnt count.
in fact, only BOS participants should vote IMO.

I don't think it would be fair for only BOS participants to vote, because the issue affects everyone. If all the BOS participants voted yes, clear everything and start from scratch, then all SF member would lose thier TIPS points whether they participated in BOS or not. I voted for No. I can't speak for everyone else, but I think it is good that it's good the votes are anonymous. That way if someone diagrees they don't get picked on.

i voted no
sure, some people will come in and take over us in the all-time in their first few weeks if they do well, but over time their score will trend toward a more accurate % anyway, as they have bad and good weeks...

if i were to make a change, i'd say they have to have 5 or maybe even 8-10 in order to be ranked all-time...that way it'll be more accurate once they get on the board...
but if not, 3 is fine with me
resetting all of us wouldn't help the problem, but would just magnify it as well will all be back to those high-variance cumulative scores

I think we should keep our points. I like that I can have a crap week and not have it wreak havoc on my average. It'll all turn out okay in the long run, although I do kind of like the idea of needing 5 scores to rank.

Yeah it will be good in one way and on the other not good. But if everybody is so sure of themselves it shouldn't matter.
