Following a strong start for the fourth season of "Queer as Folk," Showtime has ordered a fifth frame for the gay-themed drama. "Since its premiere in 2000, 'Queer as Folk' has distinguished itself not only as a valuable signature series for Showtime, but it has significantly helped change the television landscape by portraying gay men and women as fully dimensional characters," Showtime entertainment president Robert Greenblatt said. The 13-episode fifth season of the show, which hails from Cowlip Prods., Tony Jonas Prods. and Temple Street Prods., is slated to premiere in spring 2005.
