View Full Version : No Support in Iraq?

This is an interesting story about supposed "quotes" from an Iraqi that appeared in two different US military press releases about two different attacks. The "Iraqi's" quote was slightly altered in the second release to suit the new attack. Are we getting biased news from Iraq? Are there really ANY Iraqi's that support us being there or are we being lied to?
Read the story from CNN (http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/meast/07/25/military.release/index.html)

I totally agree, sadly:( , The actual day that the Iraq War ends or at least any end to all middle eastern wars end will be the last day the United States is still known as a nation.

I knew you would have something to say about this, I was looking forward to it. :D
This isn't about a misquote. This is about changing someone's quote to suit whichever story they were trying to talk up. TIHS is a typo. Using the same exact quote, except changing the place of the attack is obviously underhanded journalism and was a blatant misuse of America's trust in getting fair news from half a world away.

I, as much as you, want fair reporting in my news. But unfortunately that does not exist. However, its not a good thing that its the government doing it this time and not just a biased media outlet. So I can see the general concern, but its the only instance that we have proof of so who knows what to think?

I agree with what you are saying. But, I don't agree with you that this was a simple typo. This appears to be an all out lie and they (he, she) were caught redhanded. It take millions of responsible journalistic efforts to gain trust but just one blunder to tear it down. Not saying it's right, just how it is. Look what happened to Dan Rather. :bert: <<Bert

I don't think anyone will ever outpost you Hakeem! :chinscrat  At the rate she's going though, she'll soon be outposting the rest of us. :eyebrow: Maybe there's some new contest for posting going on that we don't know about! :p ;)
I do know that if you and Farrah get in to a posting war:war: , the rest of us are gonna have a heck of a lot of reading to do! :eyepop:

Not necessarily, Hakeem's post lengths range, depending on the topic. Farrah's post are always very short, never more than a few sentences. If they get into a posting match then it simply depends on the topic if we will have a lot to read or not.
I meant a lot of reading as in the quantity of posts to keep up with, not necessarily the length.
As for length, you're right Farrah's posts are usually brief and Hakeem's varies.
