Well, I have to say this one was kind of disappointing. I had my Shakefire pin on, but unfortunatley by the time Peter got down to my end of the line all that was left was beach balls. I was surprised how many people were there early. I got there at 6 and it was pretty crowded then. Before the movie Shakefire gave away Martial Arts DVD sets to the first few people who knew the secret password. I was given a chance to get those, but I told Pandora to let someone else have them since it really wasn't something I wanted.

I was bored by the movie and it was at the best midly entertaining. The best parts were the cameos of Owen & Luke Wilson, John Cleese & Kathy Bates. Arnold kind of sucked. It was really weird hearing him try to talk without an accent. Jackie Chan's fight scences were good. I wasn't too thrilled with Steve Coogan's part, I think he held back since it was a Disney movie. All in all, I just waited for the movie to be over...it almost felt like 80 days...well, not that bad...but if I had rented it I would have turned it off.

I agree with Otter Freak about the movie it didn't have that many good jokes when the real caracters of the movie were together it was always somebody else that made the good laughs, also the "love" story kind of sucked it didn't really went anywere.
But what you expected , is a Disney Movie.

And I gotta say that I wasn't dissapointed about the giveaway for the people that had the pin on because I was one of them, altought I have to say I didn't deserve it that much because I didn't had my pin on a place that many people could see(it's not what you think, it was in my neck).
Anyway I promise to wear it on a better place next time.

One last thing next time remind me to wear winter clothes freezing cold.
Thanks

No offense, but did anyone actually think this movie was going to be good?

In the trailer it seemed that Jackie Chan played more of a "sidekick" role, but all of the TV teasers it seemed as if he was the lead role. Which one was it? I don't think I catch this one until it ends up on HBO or Showtime, etc.

yeah, and actually, 'Jackie Chan' is the only name at the top of the poster but he's suposed to be the sidekick :???:

The movie was not for adults in my opinion. The kids at the screening liked it alot. The little ones next to me were laughing through the entire movie. they were cracking me up. Some parts were funny the overall movie was average it was just good to get out of the house... Thanks for the passes... I liked the cameo of Richard Branson i thought that was a cute add in as well as the cameo of the wilson brothers.

This was definately a kids movie. The first 20 minutes were hard to bare, but picked up afterwards. I wouldn't have payed to see it, but it was enjoyable at the screening with an audience full of kids. thanks for the passes.

I was expecting the movie to be super horrible, so since it wasn't, then I actually thought it was pretty good. I mean, they turned a Jules Verne novel into a martial arts movie. And Jackie Chan brought it back old school style because he was doing classic fighting movies in China. And wasn't they police spy guy the dude that shit the bed in Trainspotting? I was expecting the graphics to be cheezy and stuff, so it didn't bother me. I liked all the cameos, Luke and Owen Wilson, John Cleese, Rob Schneider, Kathy Bates, and Arnold.
So I guess if you lower your expectations, anything can be good.

Note to self: lower expectations on women.

Around The World In 80 Days Is Definitely A Kids Movie. I Enjoyed Seeing The Kids Around Me Laughing At It. Had A Little Too Much Slapstick Comdy For Me.

Nice little flick. Family movie all the way, but it had its moments.

After hearing all the (msotly) negative reviews of this movie-I got a chance to see it at a screening last nite. I did enjoy it BUT.....I figured out what the problem folks have with it....and the lady who was there from the studios gathering reviews agreed with me.

THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN AN ALL AGES MOVIE.....NOT AN SILLY ADULT MOVIE...OR A KIDS MOVIE WITH ADULT JOKES......

The initial reviews I saw of this movie called it 'silly' and 'not as good as the original'. This movie was not intended for the DAVID NIVEN crowd...this movie was aimed at the SIMPSONS/SHREK 2 crowd. This movie should have really been an ALL AGES movie--instead they tried to put too much adult content into a KIDS movie -thinking that the adult humor will go over the kids heads. The problem comes in because the adult stuff makes the adults think that it should be for them (unless they were with their kids as many were last night) and that it was silly. The CAMEOS were for the adults-the rest of the movie should have really been for all ages. Instead it became another of a long line of PG movies which a lot of adults will think silly and kids will either like or hate.

One lady who was there with me tried to compare this to SHREK 2 in fact. She would have been right IF this had been an ALL AGES movie like SHREK 2 instead of a kids movie with 'wink wink' adult jokes. Arnold's role in this movie was frankly too adult for the level of this movie. Do kids really need to see child neglect (the case of Macy Gray and the baby with the fire)? We are not going to even talk about the amount of drinking done at Jackie's home..LOL

Now before people assume I didnt like the movie--I actually did. Jackie Chan was good as was his foils Steve Coogan and Cecile De France. The cameos were my favorite part of the movie-particular Luke and Owen Wilson. The fun retro look of the movie was cool as well. The problem again is that this should have been an all ages movie and it wasnt.

...and that my opinion and I am sticking to it...LOL

I agree that the movie was disappointing in many ways. I especially didn't like Arnold's cameo appearance. It was very bad casting and took away from the scene. I guess overall it was okay to sit through. I was glad that I hadn't paid for the tickets. Definitely wait for the dollar theater or rent it on video.
