Any news on when this screening is going to happen for this movie since it opens on July 7? Just curious because I want to be able to movie things around to make sure I am there if I get a pass.=)

The truth is they haven't even finished the post-production for this movie yet. That's why Jay Leno can't even show a clip last night. Boy, are they rushing or what.
I remember last time when I was at Warner Bros. studio, they would still working on Swordfish about four days before the release date. Gasp! If I were Joel Silver, I would be panicky and stayed awake for four days... I guess they have get used to this type of practice.

Sometimes, they come so close they would decide to change the release date a week before the intended release date. Let's hope this is not the case for King Arthur since Keira Knightley and the cast had started doing the press junket and announced the date.

Sidenote: I've never imagined Guinevere to be soooo damn hot!

Oh well, it's from Jerry Bruckheimer production company, so I guess we're in for the action, not for the historical and legendary accuracy.

I agree on all points. I hope to see this soon.. they need to get finished.. whatever happened to good old fashion keeping the deadline... =)

I might be out numbered on this but I always hated Guinevere. I thought she was to shallow and always complaining. She never stood up for herself and was very decietful. I am a little wary of how they have seemed to turn her into warrior princess. I have to agree that this movie looks like it is more for entertainment action than legend.

thats crazy that they are cutting it so close - esp since its one of the summers BIG movies ..... hopefully i can be at the screening to see the finished product!!

I agree pandora I never thought of this as a legend film I strickly thought of it as a good action flick.. hopefully it will not let us down with the action.

do I lower my chances of getting passes to the screening if I think that the trailer sucks bug time and the whole movie with Guinevere being a warrior is horrible? :p

oh, I also dont like Clive Owen :D

PS: I still want to see the movie:

I agree with the Guinevere part so I don't think it will hurt your chances. With the movie still rushing to be fininshed though we do not have a date or any information about the screening. I hope that they will still be able to have ours.

They've been hyping and promoting this movie so much I thought it was finished already!

I also hope that the action doesn't doesn't disappoint us in case the storyline flops. I read that this story is based on a theory that the legend of King Arthur was based on a real person, Articus something or another. He was a Roman general who ends up staying in England instead of returning to Rome to persue his promising career like he wanted to do. I'm not sure how they came up with the new version of Guinevere though. It will be interesting to see if they can make this new version of such an old favorite work.

FAIR WARNING: this King Arthur screening is going to be a MADHOUSE!

WB36 already gave away a ton of tickets, HotTopics/Channel 2 is giving away a ton of tickets, and now B98.5 just told everyone on their email list to "just show up" - all for the same one screening!

I saw the line for the Napolean Dynamite "just show up" screening at Phipps on Wednesday, and there were literally hundreds more people than any one theater there could have held. When I left Phipps at 7:10 they still weren't letting people in - for a 7:30 screening!

For a 7:00 start time you had better get there before 6:00 if you plan to get in!

Well, the final cut of the film were in. Just as expected, rating was reduced to PG-13. Although initially the film was intended to be R-rated (which supposed to be), Jerry Bruckheimer succumbed to the powerhouse Disney and perhaps both desire for more lucrative business... This rating means the fight scenes are slightly choppy, especially when all the obvious stabs were trimmed. Yes, folks with incisive eyes can tell the difference.

wow this movie sucked

I mean, the battle scenes are good. but no LotR good. not even Troy good.

Guinevere sucks all the time. all her lines are bad and Im starting hating Kiera Knightly and that mouth of hers. the shape of her mouth looks like a duck. horrible.

clive owen as Arthur was ok, but I see why they're going with hugh jackman instead of him to play the next bond. clive owen looks too ordinary.

the guy playing Lancelot (Ioan Gruffudd) was better, and I also liked the rest of the knights of the round table though they (the filmakers) didnt need to make a joke out of every line out of Stellan Skarsgård's Cerdic's mouth.

all in all, I think the movie is bad. all the historic changes here (though there's not an exact story) are wrong.
now on to spoiler territory:

[SPOILERS BELOW]

1- why did arthur ended up being king here? I didnt caught a part when they told him that he'd be king when he came back. or was he king from the start?

2- guinevere's story being a warrior was a disaster, and he had no chemistry at all with arthur unless you count that scene when he becames a whore and goes to f*ck him (N)

3- almost like point 2: what happened to the love triangle between her and arthur and lancelot? and lancelot ends up getting killed to save her though (im pretty sure) she never even talked to him and ignored him when he told her something.

Did anyone notice there is actually more sexual tension and chemistry between Lancelot and Arthur, than Arthur and Guinevere?? :D
Then, there is this line from Lancelot to Arthur, "Why do you always talk to God, and not to me!"

Also, since I know Keira Knightley is actually 19 and Clive Owen is actually 40, these facts made me uncomfortable to see that love scene between them... whoa.

Thus, this version confirmed our assumption. Watch it as an action film, and a fictitious account of King Arthur. Don't take it seriously.

However, I have to say, I still enjoyed it, regardless of the flaws we found. I liked the mood and the tone of the film.
Consider it this way, it would probably get even worse if it was directed by Michael Bay, who initially signed on to the project but went on to direct Bad Boys 2 instead.

Okay, I didn't hate it, and I don't even typically like "action" movies. I'd probably give it a C++. One of my main gripes is that most of the scenery (even the grass!), props, expressions, and sideways glances seemed way too modern. As for storyline, you could see every plot point coming from ten miles away. And I couldn't buy that Guinevere could be so weak and dehydrated one minute and swordfighting the next. And her warrior costume was ridiculous. But, still, I had an enjoyable time, especially since I didn't have to pay for the tickets.

And I totally agree about the subtext between Arthur and Lancelot. "Arthur and Lancelot"--now that would have been a movie worth seeing :).

I love your comment! :D :D

If I really think about it, there are actually more scenes and conversations between Arthur and Lancelot than between Arthur and Guinevere. What kind of love triangle is that? :) I feel that there might have been additional scenes between Lancelot and Guinevere, but they have been edited out for the final release for some reason. ___spoiler here___

It does not make sense that Guinevere would have feelings for Lancelot without even having a single conversation with him in the movie. I guess we'll find out about this in the deleted scenes when the DVD is out.

Overall, I enjoyed the movie. Although the script is not well written (at some moments it drags on and on), the acting from the cast is very impressive and the background music is excellent. I did not go with a high expectation, so I came out of the theatre happy. All I say is that even good actors and director could not save a bad screenplay.

Then, the farewell Arthur gave to Lancelot when Lancelot realize Arthur decided to stay:
"I CANNOT follow you, Lancelot!!"

Okay, I might look way too much into this... But the underlying subtext is too hard to miss. :p :D ;)
