Hello everyone,
I just moved to Atlanta and I found out about this site while looking at a movie screening's thread on another site. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good source to find out about events going on in Atlanta, like concerts, conventions and stuff like that. Thanks.

There is a good free newspaper call the Creative Loafing. It has tons of info on places to go and things to do. Im not sure if they have a website.

Yep, I'd go with Creative Loafing, Access Atlanta, and any of the free papers that you see... Also check out Craigslist (www.craigslist.org (http://www.craigslist.org)), if only for a good laugh.

Welcome to Atlanta! For concerts, find a few radio stations playing the music you like and check out their websites. There are also a lot of festivals, particularly in the springtime, that are worth checking out but I don't know if there's a general listing of them anywhere.

Thank you for the suggestions everyone. Creative loafing looks pretty cool, so I will keep an eye out for that.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution (AJC) is an obvious place to find things to do as well. www.ajc.com (http://www.ajc.com)

Welcome to Atlanta
I agree Creative Loafing is an excellent source but another publication equally good is "The Sunday Paper" not to be confused with the Sunday AJC
Creative Loafing comes out on Thursday, I think.
Sunday Paper comes out on Sunday morning.

So far it does seem pretty fun. Although, I have gone out of town about every other weekend, but when I have stayed here I had a good time. There seem to be a lot of cool haunted houses around here as well for Halloween.

What haunted houses have you been to so far?

A good haunting house is Netherworld. Here is their website:

i gotta admit, netherworld is one of the best i've been to, only paralleled by one in barcelona i went to several years ago. $25 for 3 houses, but they are HUGE and it is a lot of fun watching the "monsters" freaking people out outside of the houses themselves. those guys are crazy and fun to talk to...
about info: ajc.com sometimes forces you to pay for stuff unless you have a subscription. your local paper (if you live in dunwoody, then dunwoody crier is yours) is a great source. if you pm me what city you live in, i can tell you your paper's name, probably get you the info if you want/don't already have a subscription.
atlanta is also a HUGE concert hotspot if you like music. we get indie bands, mainstream big names, and some local groups are pretty good too. need i mention the athens scene, were groups like REM and the Indigo Girls began? speaking of concert, the mars volta is opening for the red hot chili peppers next thurs., and if you are lucky, you could win tix by listening to 99x during their morning show (6am to 10am??) or buy online for around $100 if lucky. just if you were interested!

hate to do a double post....
creative loafing and www.ticketmaster.com show most of the concerts coming up, if not all. again, 99x is a pretty big local radio station, and their site(99x.com) has info for concerts coming up that they're affiliated with (which is a surprising amount)
