Ok, some of you have already seen that I am writing another article on censorship. Now it is taking a little longer than I had thought; but I am trying to be as thorough as possible. I would like to ask all of you now to let me know what you think. Are you for censorship, against it, is there an organization, law, or technology I should read up on. You can post it here or email me at pandora@shakefire.com with any thoughts. Also let me know if I can quote you. If I can, can I use your name or handle. I will admit I am very liberal, but I am open minded too. So let me hear what you have to say. That is the beauty of FREE SPEECH.

This is a letter I got:
July 6, 2004
Dear Mr. ****,
A complaint has been filed with the Federal Communications Commission and with the license holder Georgia State University arising from material broadcast on WRAS-FM Monday night, May 31, 2004.
The Policy Manual on page 20, under section twenty-eight(Obscenity, Profanity, and Indecency) states "...the official University and station policy on obscenity, profanity and indecency is:
- Obscenity is banned 24 hours a day and may not be aired at any time
- Indecency, while allowed by the FCC during the safe harbor hours (10 pm-6 am), is officially discouraged by Georgia State. Indecent material must be approved in advance by the General Manager. If the General Manager has any question about whether the material may be obscene, the Advisor's approval must be obtained prior to broadcast of the material.
-Profanity is a lesser issue, but should still be dealt with by management.
Finally, section twenty-nine of the Policy Manual also on page 20 (Screening Material for On Air Use) states "all prerecorded material not provided by an approved syndicator must be screened for indecent, obscene, or otherwise inappropriate material BEFORE AIRING." Further, "if a WRAS staff member responsible for screening material does not do so and, as a result, a policy in the manual is violated, disciplinary action may be taken up to and including termination."
Mr. ****, as the material that was broadcast is, in the view of the license holder, indecent and possibly obscene, and since you made no effort to clear the objectionable material in advance with the General Manager, your position with WRAS-FM is terminated as of July 6, 2004. Due to your termination, you may not be employed, volunteer or serve in any capacity at the station for a period less than 2 years of this notification. ...

That sucks !!
What you should do is the same thing Jay and Silent Bob did in their last movie go house by house kicking the shit out of every single person that call to the radio station to say that you show that song on air.
PS:Thanks for the tickets yesterday.
