FROM E! Online: Bad news for Newlyweds voyeurs: Pop's prettiest couple is purportedly pulling the plug on their MTV series.
Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey told Us Weekly they're through with 24/7 camera coverage, pointing out that they'll celebrate their second anniversary this October.
"Done!" insists Simpson. "We're not newlyweds anymore. We've had our share of the cameras. We're at a point where we'll want everything for ourselves and our family."
That would spell R.I.P. buffalo wings, platamapuses, celebrity maids, kids in the pool and twentysomething "old people."
Neither MTV nor Simpson's reps would respond to the quote.
Intrusion aside, the Chicken of the Sea aficionado and her patient hubby have profited handsomely from inviting MTV camera crews into their California home the past three seasons.
The popular series encouraged Simpson's label to rerelease her tepid-selling album, In This Skin, which promptly went multi-platinum. The blonde has also scored multiple endorsement deals (and one unpaid push for canned tuna); a recurring variety special for ABC; and, reportedly, an upcoming role as Daisy Duke in the Dukes of Hazzard remake.
Meanwhile, Lachey has netted himself a six-episode gig on the WB's Charmed next season as a love interest for Alyssa Milano.
When they do escape MTV's fishbowl, Simpson and Lachey plan to start a family…at least one day. "I don't think it will be in six months or a year, but after that, Nick's getting old," the 24-year-old singer told the magazine.
They've even considered adopting a child from an underdeveloped country. "We'd love to have our own children, but we have a heart for kids, and we'd love to adopt," said Lachey, who's involved in the Big Brothers program.
As long as we're not deprived of at least one child with Jessica's jeans, uh, genes.
