The screening here was tonite as well. I enjoyed the movie even though one of my friends slept thru it (LOL). HILLARY CLINT--I mean Meryl Streep--was very good--even though at the end she was even more warped than I thought. Denzel of course was good--even though at one scene I had to say 'at least he didnt become Mike Tyson' (LOL). I think that it will make its money back --it was a good not great movie.

I also just came back from the theater ... The movie has good acting and a good story but the only downside is that it is very Looooooong. The T.V. Ads for looks much better than the movie itself. I didn't like the fact it was long. it killed the movie made me wanna leave my seat.

B-. It was a little long (2:15) but I didn't think it felt long. I do think that a lot of it could have been re-arranged, re-written, or left out. Meryl Streep did a good job. Denzel was kind of the same as he is in a lot of things. I'm glad Liev Schreiber is finally getting some big screen time, I think he deserves it. And it was also good to see the girl from Beloved (Kimberly Elise) again. Does anyone know how this compares to the Frank Sinatra original? I can't see how it could have been even close to the same movie.

This movie was a mess.
I love that the commercials say: "you wont be able to breathe in the last 30 minutes" or something like that, and yeah, they were right, I spent all that time trying to understand what the fuck was going on.
I'm really disappointed with the movie, and the only good thing about it was Liev Schreiber who I hope gets more and more big roles. The rest of the cast (denzel and meryll) was good as always, with Jon Voight being totally wasted.
I haven't seen the original so I can't compare but after seeing this one I'm in no hurry to see it.

I didnt think this movie the greatest--just a 'good' movie. I didnt want to see the original until after I saw this so that I wouldnt compare it. This movie actually has me wanting to see the original just to see what the hoopla was about. (Of course I felt the same way about OCEANS 11 after I saw the remake and actually thought that the original was better in some ways--but glad they didnt use the original ending--in this era too commonplace.)
