This is my last try. If I come in last, I definitely quit. I know I said that before.

you shouldnt quit. just try to kinda think about past weeks and how movies change from their first weekend to their second one.

for example, you're predicting AvP is going to make 20 mill. well, it made 38 last week, and most normal movies drop around 45% in their second weekend, so 20 now would be ok. but movies with bad word of mouth drop much more. like 55% or even 65%. so AvP will probably make around 15-18mill.

same with Princess Diaries, 18 is too much I think. it made 24 last week, and its the only kids movie ina lot of theatres, so it'll be down around 45% or even just 40% to a total of 13-15mill.

the new movies, always tend to open low in august, AvP was kind of weird last week, it made a lot, but it also was in lots of theatres. but this week, exorcist and open water open in not that many theatres, plus both of them, plus AvP, are all horror/suspense movies, so they all aim for the same audiences whic means they'll split audiences. also, Open Water and exorcist are both rated R so kids cant go see them meaning ess money for them.

without a paddle opens in the same theatres as open water and exorcist, but alomost everybody saw it already with all the screenings they made, and its a PG-13 comedy (no swearing, no nudity) that is not going to attrack many young girls which are going to be watching princess diaries, nor young boys that are going to sneak to see the nudity and horror of open water instead of watching a bad (WAP is getting horrible) comedy. harold and kumar bomber a few weeks ago so this one could be the same.

benji opens in way to few theatres like to get some money.
garden state gets a good expansion. I really hope it makes good money, and it'll probably make around 3mill. could get in the 10th position.

anyway, thats how I make my guesses :D

Hakeem
08-22-2004, 12:08 PM
wow, AvP went down like 75% this week. is fighting for a 4th place right now

and Garden State and Yu-Gi-Oh are fighting for the 10th place with an estimate of 2.1mill each so far for Friday and Saturday :D GO Yu-Gi-Oh!!! :p

Hakeem
08-22-2004, 01:59 PM
