The Magician's Elephant is a novel by children's author, Kate DiCamillo (Because of Winn Dixie and The Tale of Desperaux) telling a story of a young boy, Peter Augustus, in search of the answer to his question which involves a magician and an elephant. In the cold and dark city of Baltese, a miraculous thing occurs one evening that draws the curiosity of the people; but for Peter,while observing the miracle he finds more than he had imagined. Peter discovers the truth of his past is connected to the miracle and in realizing the truth he helps to restore the city.
