I'm interested in seeing the remake, but the original was classic. How can you remake it? The actress with Morris Chesnut looks like Halle Berry. Glad Morris has a tv series, at least I don't remember him in any other.

LOVE LOVE all the familiar faces I hope it's good! Never seen the original but it looks like something I'd enjoy.

ABC is redoing the old 80's tv program about alien reptiles that come to earth in peace - ain't that how it always begins.

Based on the trailer I think this could be a good show (again - I liked it the first time it aired with Marc Singer). There are lots of great actors in this version, Morena Baccarin (Firefly, Serenity), Joel Gretsch (4400), Elizabeth Mitchell (Lost).

Edit:

I forgot to mention Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Dollhouse)! So Sorry! How could I forget Wash!!!

I agree the classic was the best. I'll never forget when one of the V people ate the rat. I was a kid when they came out and the image has stuck with me since. Sorry if I grossed anyone out. Morris did a tv series back in the '90s called Out All Night with Vivaca A. Fox and Patti Labelle, it was short lived but cute.

I'm right there with you. I watched it when I was a kid and that scene with the rat has stuck in my head since. It was so perfect and in my opinion should be ranked with one of the most shocking and memorable scenes in tv. Back in the 80's showing people eat rats didn't happen and it was shocking cause no one saw that coming in the show. Maybe I didn't since I was a kid but for me it was such a huge deal to see it and I still remember it.
I can't wait to see the remake but I'm also already disappointed in it when I saw they took away the red uniforms. It's ok to take away that symbol they had, but the red uniforms that was part of the big things that made the show stand out. Here these aliens come walking out in these bright red body suits with those huge square sunglasses and the perfect faces. That gray suit just looks like they are janitors stepping out on a lunch break.

I agree the red suits are a necessity. Even if it is a remake you need to keep certain things. Just like Transformers, Megatron is a gun not a plane. Sorry off-topic. It was something to see that scene on tv, you just didn't see that back then.

Plus there are so many people that wasn't around in the 80's to watch the original and has no clue about the show. So introducing them to the updated version and leaving out one main part of it is not right. Sure they won't really notice it but it was something that wasn't seen and really still not around now. That unity, the way a whole race conformed with each other and was able to work together while standing out in those red suits was amazing.
Well, we'll find out in a week. The show starts next Tuesday at 8pm and I already have the dvr set.

Re: V: The Series

They sure are plugging this show. I had to have seen a billion tv spots last night. Then again I was watching ABC for 2 hours but still. I had a though about the new series. It would be real cool if they have some of the original cast making cameos, i.e. Marc Singer, dude who plays Freddy Kruger and the other creepy resistance guy who name I will never know that played in Total Recall.

What I'm worried about is that ABC will show 3-4 episodes this month and then put the show on hiatus until the Winter Olympics are over in early March. Way to build momentum.

I understand completely. FOX has done just yet with House and Fringe. I really don't like. Just when both shows were just getting started with the season.

I want it on DVD, but I'm old school geek, I have them on VHS. Only problem I have is that I don't have a vcr anymore. Mine broke and haven't gotten around to getting another.
I also just found out that on today and tomorrow the episodes from the original tv series on sy fy. I missed the first few today that started at noon and it starts at 8am tomorrow. They are playing them in order from the first to the last.

A kindred spirit. I broke down and bought it on DVD a few years back. I totally understand about the VCR. DVDs made VHS tapes a dying breed.

Re: V: The Series

Just finished watching the first of the new series. WOW. I'm impressed. I was skeptical at first before seeing it. Without the red suits (though still don't like no red) the gray suits work and they all wear great. Then the names being different the characters are all pretty much the same. Their main roles are different along with their names but who they are can easily be seen with the originals. Great acting, love how it just got to it like the original, and can't wait to see more of V.
