Re: 50 Cent

50 CENT’S NEW ALBUM, CURTIS, TAKES HIP-HOP TO THE BANK

Superstar Rapper’s Third Album Includes Production from Dr. Dre, Eminem and Timbaland; Guests Include Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Justin Timberlake, Akon and More

SANTA MONICA, CA – April 23, 2007 – On Curtis, his third major label album, rapper 50 Cent gives no quarter. As hard and brutally honest, yet musical and entertaining, as his first two albums--each of them #1 Pop, #1 R&B/Hip-hop and at least seven times platinum--50 Cent (aka Curtis Jackson) tells it like it is on Curtis and makes the resulting controversy pay as he heads “Straight to the Bank,” the title of the album’s first street track.

Curtis(Shady/Aftermath/Interscope), releasing June 26, 2007, features guest appearances by Eminem, Akon, Justin Timberlake, Mary J. Blige, Robin Thicke, and Nicole Scherzinger from the Pussycat Dolls.

Curtis continues 50 Cent’s phenomenal rise from the mean streets. His official debut album, 2003’s Get Rich Or Die Tryin’, sold 872,000 units in the first four days of its release, making it the fastest-selling debut disc in the SoundScan era (since 1991). The album was the biggest seller of 2003 and is currently ten times platinum worldwide. Later that year, The New Breed, a DVD with a bonus CD including new songs, charted #2 Pop and #1 R&B/Hip-Hop. His second album, 2005’s The Massacre, was the second biggest-selling album of the year and is now seven times platinum worldwide.

Since he first dropped his bombs on the music world, 50 has earned 11 Grammy nominations, from Best New Artist to Best Rap Album for each of his first two efforts. Attesting to his worldwide popularity, Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ hit #2 in the U.K. and #1 in Australia while The Massacre went #1 in both those countries, #2 in Sweden, and is the biggest-selling rap album in India, where it has been certified double platinum, selling more than 2,000,000 copies.

Back in the U.S., 50 has scored three singles claiming the #1 spot across the charts--R&B/Hip-hop, Rap, and Pop: “In Da Club,” “Candy Shop” and “21 Questions” (featuring Nate Dogg). Three more went Top 3 across the board: “P.I.M.P.,” “Just A Lil Bit” and “Disco Inferno.” Yet another four were Rap Top 10s: “Wanksta,” “Outta Control (Remix),” “Window Shopper” and “Best Friend.” Four of the above have been certified digital gold: “In Da Club,” “Candy Shop,” “P.I.M.P.” and “Disco Inferno.”

From music to movies, videogames to books, a clothing line to footwear, 50 has taken street culture by storm. But as Curtis proves, and as he says in “Straight to the Bank,” 50 Cent wants even more.

50 Cent’s New Album, curtis, Moves From June 26th To New Release Date September 4th

Santa Monica, CA – May 24, 2007 – 50 Cent’s new album curtis, which was previously scheduled to be released on June 26th, will now be released on September 4, 2007. With the album near completion and unable to make the original June date, a simultaneous worldwide release necessitated a push until September.

“I’m an international artist. My fans worldwide deserve to receive my album at the same time as my fans here in the US. Taking that into consideration moving the album to September was a necessary course of action,” states 50 Cent.

Re: 50 Cent

50 CENT UNLEASHES HIS FOURTH ALBUM BEFORE I SELF DESTRUCT

Superstar Also Makes His Directorial Debut with

Before I Self Destruct, a 90-minute Original Film

NEW YORK, NY – October 17, 2008 – 50 Cent exploded onto the music scene with his blockbuster debut Get Rich Or Die Tryin’. Now he’s set to deliver his fourth major label album, Before I Self Destruct (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope), on December 9, 2008.

For the explosive Before I Self Destruct, 50 Cent returned to working closely with Dr. Dre and Eminem as he did on his first album. But Before I Self Destruct is more than an album. The package also includes a DVD with an original, gritty, feature-length movie he wrote, directed and starred in. 50 Cent proves with Before I Self Destruct that no one on the hip-hop scene is more aggressive about putting the street on stage.

With Dr. Dre and Eminem each producing and guesting on tracks, and led by the club-friendly first single, “Get Up,” produced by Scott Storch, Before I Self Destruct is darker and harder than last year’s Curtis. 50 Cent wrote much of the album while he, as Curtis Jackson, was also penning the 90-minute film of the same name that would be his directorial debut.

The film Before I Self Destruct is a coming of age story about an inner city youth raised by a hardworking single mother. When his dream of becoming a basketball player fails to materialize, he finds himself employed in a supermarket. After his mother is tragically gunned down, Clarence (played by Jackson) is consumed by revenge and takes up a life of crime in order to support his younger brother.

"My film captures the harsh realities that reflect so many communities today. There will be some who will greatly identify with the characters and the situations presented and then there will be others who may be shocked at the struggles that go on in the inner city,” states 50 Cent. "I made the film for both groups."

Before I Self Destruct, both album and film, continues 50 Cent’s phenomenal rise from street culture hero to superstardom. 2003’s Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ sold 872,000 units in the first four days of its release, making it the fastest-selling debut disc in the SoundScan era (since 1991). The #1 Pop, #1 R&B/Hip-hop album was the biggest seller of 2003 and has sold more than 12 million copies worldwide.

2005’s The Massacre, again #1 Pop, #1 R&B/Hip-hop, was the second biggest-selling album of that year and has sold more than nine million copies worldwide. With the album’s “Candy Shop,” “Disco Inferno” and “How We Do,” 50 Cent became the first solo artist in Billboard history to have three singles in the Top 5 in the same week.

2007’s Curtis reached #2 Pop and #2 R&B/Hip-hop, selling more than five million copies worldwide. Three tracks reached the Top 40 of the Hot 100: “I Get Money,” “Ayo Technology” and “Straight To The Bank.” Time magazine named “I Get Money” one of “The 10 Best Songs of 2007.”

Thanks to Curtis, 50 Cent was honored as the year’s Best-Selling Hip-hop Artist at the 2007 World Music Awards. His music career has also been marked by an impressive 13 Grammy nominations, from Best New Artist to Best Rap Album.

In addition to his record label, G-Unit Records, 50 Cent has enjoyed enormous global success across a vast array of entrepreneurial ventures, including videogames, books, clothing, footwear, beverages, personal care products, automotive and more. He has also starred in a handful of films, including 2005’s semi-autobiographical Get Rich Or Die Tryin’, Al Pacino and Robert De Niro’s Righteous Kill and now Before I Self Destruct.

Re: 50 Cent

NEW YORK, NY – November 14, 2008 – 50 Cent knows hard times. So in these difficult economic days, the artist who debuted with Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ is giving something back to his fans by adding a free DVD of a full-length original movie to his fourth major label album, Before I Self Destruct (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope), releasing early 2009.

The album move comes as 50 Cent was rushing to get his album finished for a December release, however it is not complete. With the deadline to secure advertising and retail placement for the album imminent, he decided to move to a date in early 2009.

Written, directed and starring Curtis Jackson (aka 50 Cent), the gritty 90-minute film, also titled Before I Self Destruct, is a coming of age story about an inner city youth raised by a hardworking single mother. When his dream of becoming a basketball player fails to materialize, he finds himself employed in a supermarket. After his mother is tragically gunned down, Clarence (played by Jackson) is consumed by revenge and takes up a life of crime in order to support his younger brother.

“Times are hard,” stated 50 Cent. “Everyone is trying to make the most of what they have. I want to give my fans something extra for their hard earned dollars. They’ll get a free bonus when they pick up the album.”

But there’s even more that 50 Cent is offering free for fans of hip-hop. For a limited time, the Before I Self Destruct deluxe package will also include a second DVD featuring “Two Turntables And A Microphone: The Life And Death Of Jam Master Jay,” a documentary about 50 Cent’s late mentor and friend. Hip-hop pioneer Jam Master Jay of Run-DMC gave 50 Cent his first big break in music by signing him to JMJ Records in the late 1990s. In fact, 50’s first official recording was an appearance on a 1998 JMJ-produced Onyx album. Jay also produced 50 Cent’s first, though unreleased, album. 50 Cent executive produced the documentary and appears in the 85-minute film, along with Rev Run, Russell Simmons, Jay-Z, and others.

After His First Single Bombed...

50 Cent's new album, Before I Self Destruct, has lived up to its title.

The record has gone and self destructed!!!!!!!

The CD is now being pushed back to 2009. Way 2009! There's not even a new release date set yet.

The record was originally supposed to come out in early December - to capitalize on holiday buying - but after the album's kickoff single tanked, the Self Destruct is now getting kicked to the curb.

Blame Scott Storch, who produced the shiteous first single, Get Up.

The official reason being given for the album's delay by his label, Interscope, is that Fiddy was "rushing" to meet the December date but "with the deadline to secure advertising and retail placement for the album imminent," the rapper opted to wait until next year.

Uh huh!

Sure!!!!!
