Re: The Twilight Saga: New Moon (Official Thread)
I'll make mine short as I havn't read the book, yet.I saw this with my Niece who has read every book in the series a few times. She said it was just like the book, almost exactly.(Hey' Hayden)She also thought that if they added another hour it would have had everything from the book.
The film making was very well done.It was done with love of the book,it truely shows. If more books got adapted like this one to film, the film industry would have a Record Big Box Office Year. ![]()

Re: The Twilight Saga: New Moon (Official Thread)
When it comes to book-film adaptations, I am NOT a purist. I am most concerned that the general plot is followed, that all the BIG plot points are hit, and that spirit of the book is in the film.
Even though I've seen everything spoilery, this movie was still full of surprises. You thought you saw the break up scene from that leak in Italy? That wasn't the complete, finished scene. I'd watch that scene only twice on youtube b/c I didn't want to desensitize myself to it. Let me tell you, it's really heartbreaking. Punch to the gut, take you by surprise, holy crap that was perfectly done, heartbreaking. It was very important to me that they capture the depression Bella experiences. That they show those months passing. I really couldn't imagine how they would do it in a way that would provoke those same poignant feelings. And they really pulled it off. The months pass and things do not get better. She is in status. Well done. The colors, the way scenes are shot, the score--all so much better than the predecessor. Although it has more to do with a style preference (Hardwicke preferring a more gritty, real, shaky cam, too subtle humor), I prefer Weitz's style. It is rich. The way each scene is put together is deliberate, luscious, smooth, & beautiful. The special effects are very superior to those in the first film. The detailing of the wolves is stunning. The swift vampire movements are thrilling. Jacob is HOT. Taylor smolders on screen & his chemistry with Kristen is darn near edible, it's so delicious! If I had someone like him coming on to me the way he did to her, I don't think I'd be able to resist! I'd say he's half naked for a good 30-40% of his scenes. The girls sitting behind us let out a very pleased "mmm!" each time, lol! Once again, everyone who is not the trio does an incredible job w/what little they have. Have no doubts about your humans or the Volturi. The only cheesy scene was the flash that Alice shows Aro of Bella's future. The theater lol'd for real. I really think you're going to enjoy this one. It was better than I expected, undoubtedly. |

Re: The Twilight Saga: New Moon (Official Thread)
New Moon is a very good screen adaptation of the book and now with digital cameras an image of a vampire can be taken. I kept looking at the Cullen's eyes in this movie and don't remember the amber color in daytime, especially at school. Taylor Lautner is a very good as Jacob, I saw a clip of Lautner doing martial arts when he was younger.

Re: The Twilight Saga: New Moon (Official Thread)
I couldn't have said any better Roxie! I completely agree. This movie hit all the right points and also some points that should have been mentioned in the first one. I thought the chemistry between Kristen & Taylor was more believable than Robert. I found myself wanting more from Taylor, which IMO they accomplished their goal. I'm Team Edward but this one makes me switching sides. Jacob is loyal & madly in love with Bella and who wouldn't want that? And it's done the non stalker way. LOL.
I love how the music played throughout the movie. Last movie, I think the soundtrack wasn't out yet or at least I hadn't listened to it. So going into this one, I already had a sense of familiarity and made me feel like I was there with them. Awkward... lol. And believe it or not, last night's crowd wasn't as bad as I thought it could have been. (like the FOX Theater craziness) People reacted in the parts that were expected. Only annoying part I had was the person towards the front of the theater on his cell towards the last 30 min of the film. I mean at 2:30 in the morning who the heck is he texting?!?! Shut it off and get your booty call on another time. Anywho, I'm done now as I'm rambling. And also I want to point out, sorry if I offended anyone about the "good" comment. After talking to some SF peeps that know me, I just wanted to say it wasn't meant to be rude. And I still think Chocolate pudding is good and AWESOME if it's dark chocolate flavor! ![]() |

Re: The Twilight Saga: New Moon (Official Thread)
I saw it this morning, in a crowd of Moms and like 2 guys...poor guys. Ditto to all that has already been said...I wanted to add how funny and humorous some parts were. Very well done. I especially enjoyed Charlie-- not to mention the interactions and banter amongst Bella, Mike, Jessica, and crew. Some great humor, which took me by surprise. I really like Weitz's style and prefer it to Hardwicke's to say the least.
I was most surprised by how much I thought KStew improved her portrayal of Bella. I am not sure if was scripting, directing or her...I am still not completely convinced, but SO much better than Twilight, I thought. Also, only negative...what is up with Alice's wig? Really? It was very off-putting. And I know a lot has been said about Jasper's hair, too...but Alice's is almost worst Overall, was really great...and oh yeah, great reaction by all the mom audience I was with today when Jacob's chest is first revealed in the movie. Too funny.

Re: The Twilight Saga: New Moon (Official Thread)
there's a lady on twitter that bought 10 tix for the midnight showing because she didn't want to sit by many ppl. I don't know how that keeps ppl away but she's seen the movie already 6 times. I'm wondering if this lady has a job or a life.... is she trying to beat records or something?

Re: The Twilight Saga: New Moon (Official Thread)
Well, I am going again today (with a different group of friends who have not seen it)....so I shouldn't really judge...but c'mon 6 times in like a day...At least we can know we are contributing to the success of the movie and they hopefully will put those dollars back into production of 3rd and (maybe) 4th books. We definitely saw an improvement in funds on New Moon, it really showed.

Re: The Twilight Saga: New Moon (Official Thread)
Okay, I'm very late to the party, but I watched Twilight (the first one) yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. I got bogged down in the book (impossible I know) and gave up on it, but will definitely check out New Moon. After all, millions of Twihards can't be wrong!
