Club Dread

Sex. Alcohol. Drugs. Pleasure Island has it all, but when guests start turning up dead, the perfect vacation becomes a vacationer's worst nightmare. Broken Lizard - the twisted comedy team responsible for the cult hit Super Troopers, which has grossed over $65 million on DVD and video to date - makes a booze-soaked splash with Club Dread, an offbeat slasher comedy due on DVD and VHS May 25 from Fox Home Entertainment. The bikini-clad vacationers and screwball resort crew are up to their necks in sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll when bodies start turning up, and everyone must stay together if they want to stay alive. Starring Bill Paxton as Coconut Pete, sexy Britney Daniel (Joe Dirt) and the entire Broken Lizard comedy team, Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske as the crazy resort staff, the DVD is available May 25 for a suggested retail price of $27.98 U.S./$41.98 Canada. Prebook is April 28, 2004.

DVD SPECIAL FEATURES
Club Dread is presented in Widescreen and Pan & Scan versions of the film on a two-sided DVD flipper disc, and features English Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, as well as Spanish and French Dolby Surround sound. The DVD also features two commentary tracks by the Broken Lizard comedy team.

Anyone seen it?

Thumbs up

I saw it a couple of months ago at the sneak preview screening. It was hilarious, but a lot of people didn't like it, saying is wasn't as good as Super Troopers, but I disagree. It's equally as funny as Super Troopers. All the Broken Lizard crew play completely different characters. I think the big guy made an agreement, that since he played an ass in the first movie, he gets to play a nice guy in this one. Club Dread is the funniest scary movie I've seen. Or is it scariest funny movie? Not since Evil Dead, has someone been able to make a hilarious movie that also makes you kind of jump in your seat. The put the scary music in all the right places and have tons of scenes where people just pop out of no where. Lots of T&A, too. And they make fun of Jimmy Buffett. The only other comedy I remember with a hedonistic resort is that one with Rosie O'Donnell in leather. bad memories

Well, I think this is going to be a "creeper" hit like Bubba Ho Teb which also comes out the same day. Word of mouth will eventually get it going especially this weekend with the three day holiday. The volume of good stuff being released todat makes it tough on a lot of films. They have posted some clips from the movie over at www.themanroom.com in the DVD news section if anyone is interested.

I went to Target today and bought Return of the King and Club Dread.
just finished watching Club Dread an hour ago with my brother. both of us HUGE Super Troopers fans, but this one... meh

it was as good, and I have to say that aside from the general jokes we get from the guys, the rest is pretty bad. Specially Bill Paxton, didnt like his character at all.
and the story was the thing I had more problems with, I know its supposed to be like scary movie in some way, but the end was bad.

[spoiler]what I didnt like about the ending is how he kept coming back even when he was cut in half. come on! and then the legs still swimming, funny, but kind of like the Black Knight in Monty Python's The Holy Grail.
And the revealing of the killer was a mess too, I mean, they all kept dissapearing and appearing at all times. I know that was the joke but I would've like if Farva, sorry Lars would've stayed all the time with Britany Daniel and that he played the hero part a bit longer.
also, the ending with him kissing Britany and Jordan Ladd just driving the boat? they should've given us a hint of a threesome or something.[spoiler]

so for me, all in all was a dissapointing follow up to ST. Im planning to but their first movie and see how these guys started it all. hopefully their upcoming movies bring back (at least for me) the Super Troopers' Broken Lizards I liked so much
