Shakefire Harry Potter to die?

in a recent questioning, Harry Potter author JK Rowling said that Harry Potter WILL survive to a 7th book but hinted that he may be betrayed and be killed in the seventh book. She also hinted that Dumbledore may not be as good as we all think he is and may have a closer relationship with Voldemort than appear. (Rowling: "You may wanted to question, 'Why has Dumbledore not even tried to, let alone kill Voldemort?'").

So, now only time will tell what happens with Harry Potter. My prediction? I think HP may just go over to the "dark side" ala Anakin Skywalker.

Re: Harry Potter to die?

Was Rowling questioned in a magazine/newspaper article (that I could read) or on TV/radio?

I hope not! That would be soooo "been there, done that."

Okay, thanks. I'll keep a lookout for the article.

Re: Harry Potter to die?

I don't think we can really trust JK's "hints" anymore. The books will sell regardless and the movies will be made. Years of people trying to get insider info from her will have definitely lead to a penchant for misdirection. Earlier on she made the statement that "Harry will never go to the darkside." So, while I am sure there is a deeper relationship between Tom and Dumbledore and i have no doubt that Dumbledore will, seemingly at least, soon die, I think She is just having a bit of fun with people.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Official BOOK Thread)

Got my copy today so if I don't post too much in the next few weeks, it's because I'm busy reading it.

Re: Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince

Did anyone go to any midnight parties for the countdown last night (7/15)?

I stopped at a Borders and they had all kinds of activities and games for the kids. The first people (3 High school guys) picked to buy their books hollered when they got them - I heard they're the same age as Harry and grew up reading them. I even got a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory pencil and some Harry Potter trivia/games/stickers to send to my niece and nephew.

It is so neat seeing kids so look forward to a new book - reading was so much fun when I was growing up. I wasn't sure that anyone actually uses the library to get books, do research, and just spend time buried in learning or just escaping with a good book. I think the major bookstores have taken over some of the roles of a library and the onslaught of videos, DVD's and computer access have changed things immensely.

Talking Re: Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince

I was at a midnight one here for Books A Million. I won a voucher from a radio station thursday and since I was only like minutes away from the store last night and I didn't get off work until little after 11 I figured I might as well stop by and get one.

I was surprised at how many people were there. Not only kids but adults and not the parents of the kids. But like me adults that were into getting the book. I wanted the deluxe one and was talking to the retail girl about switching out and paying the extra. That is until she told me it was $60 and not the $40. For some reason there was no discount on it so I just went ahead and got the regular one but it was free so I'm happy.
There was a newscrew there to film and talk to the kids that dressed up and wow some of those kids sure know how to find ways to make themselves look like they do in the movies. Plus, Wendy's late night, mmm mm good.

Re: Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince

I actually headed off to the Barnes & Nobles right after work, about 11:15 p.m., only to find a store pack with people and millions of kids. I stood in line, mingled, sat, and walked around the store a dozen times waiting for my turn to claim a book. It took all of a hour to get one but i got one. I had to pay the B&N price of $17.99+tax, not the special $16 something+tax for reservist(which i could not become one because you had to reserve it by 1 p.m. and i arrived and asked the clerk at 1:22 p.m. not cool) but at least i own it now. But do you know the sheer irony, i was talking to my friend Ryan during this fiasco and he was headed to the local Griffin Wal-Mart that he works at and he picked it up like 2 minutes after 12 a.m. WHY??? didn't i just turn around and go to Wal-Mart. It only cost $15.78+tax with no huge crowds, no waiting, and i didn't have to wear some stupid orange armband that wouldn't break. It was like a hospital bracelet, I WAS TAGGED FOR THE WORLD TO SEE THAT I WASn't A RESERVEST!!! Stupid tag, but i got the book and i am still trying to get over the fact that this book is over 200 pages shorter than the last book released. Still love Harry Potter though.

People still use libraries quite a bit - to use the internet! There are still a few actual book readers left but our numbers seem to be dwindling rapidly.
