Green Day to Headline Voodoo Music Experience

Green Day is heading back to New Orleans.

The rock act is the first announced headliner for the Voodoo Music Experience, a familiar gig for the band: they previously performed at the festival's 2004 installment.

The annual festival is expected to announce the rest of its lineup on Wednesday.

The Voodoo festival will span October 26-28, falling between Green Day's respective September and November "¡Uno!" and "¡Dos!" album releases. The third in the planned trilogy, "¡Tré!," will land January 15, 2013. The festival date is currently Green Day's only U.S. show of the year, with Japanese and European dates slated for August and September.
