Tom Holland to Star as Young Nathan Drake in 'Uncharted'

Sony has cast Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland as young Nathan Drake for its upcoming Uncharted, Deadline reports.

The film is based on the popular PlayStation video game franchise and follows the charismatic treasure hunter Nathan Drake as he ventures across the world in search of historical artifacts, all the while evading danger at every corner. Sony's Uncharted film will act as a prequel to the video games that will explore the origins of Drake's relationship with Victor Sullivan, his mentor and partner. By focusing on a younger Nathan Drake, the studio is hoping to build a franchise around Holland while at the same time tell news stories that haven't been covered by the games.

The Uncharted film has been stuck in development for quite a while now, with scripts being produced by Joe Carnahan, David Guggenheim and Eric Warren Singer. Both David O. Russell and Seth Gordon were attached to direct at one point or another as well. Currently, Shawn Levy is directing. Uncharted is produced by Charles Roven, Avi Arad, Alex Gartner and Ari Arad.
