Warner Bros. has taken a step to lure over the few remaining HD-DVD holdovers to blu-ray. Or, rather, give them a kick to trust another format so quickly after they sunk money into a different one. Warner announced today that they are going to allow consumers to trade in their WB HD-DVDs for bright shiny new blu-rays. There are some catches; 1) It needs to be a WB title and 2) it needs to be a title that is actually CURRENTLY available on blu-ray, which they haven't release all of the ones they have on HD-DVD yet. Outside of that, the shipping price is a bit high ($6.95 for contiguous U.S. and $8.95 for Puerto Rico, Hawaii and Alaska and, the worst part of the deal; 3) it also costs $4.95 per blu-ray, bringing the cost range to $11.90 to $13.90 per disc. But, you do get to keep your HD-DVD case and the actual HD-DVD which is worth roughly nothing. If you are interested in ditching some of your expired HD DVD titles, head over to red2blu.com to find out how. |
