You think we were done reporting on the marketing juggernaut that is "Paranormal Activity"? Well, you apparently don't know that a "juggernaut" can not die and, in this case, shouldn't. This movie is just starting to pick up speed, coming in at number 3 in a crowded box office weekend. In only 760 theaters, it managed to embarass the other "thriller" of the weekend, The Stepfather (which, by the way, happened to cost nearly 2,000 times what PA cost to make) and that movie opened in a non-juggernautal 2,734 theaters. If you remember back in the day, Paramount was only going to release this movie if enough people (that being 1,000,000) "demanded it". After that mark was reached, and the movie opened wider this past weekend, Paramount announced that it would reward those who helped make the movie a hit with "Paranormal Parties" this Thursday night at 11:59PM. The first 10 theaters to sellout one midnight showing of the movie for this Thursday will be rewarded with an exclusive Paranormal Activity party. As of this article, the first slot has already been taken by the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Austin, Texas. It isn't quite clear what will be at these parties but there are rumblings of free popcorn, drinks and some pretty cool giveaways. None of this is confirmed but something big is bound to go down. Check out the site here for more information, keep tabs on the party cities and spread the word.
