The keynote at Macworld this year may have been Steve Jobs-less and lacking any cool new iPod unveiling but the biggest news was the announcement that iTunes will now free up their download from DRM (that's Digital Rights Management, the annoying feature that doesn't allow you to share or move your MP3s onto other devices). Today, millions of iTunes subscribers are getting the option to allow upgrade their past downloads to DRM-free versions, but it doesn't come for free. But, aside from the fee, the biggest catch is that you have to do them all at once. That is, you can't just select a few at a time or do them individually and, for those of you that have been downloading songs like mad people over the years, that could be a pretty hefty price tag.
So, will you be switching your songs to DRM free or will you be using the trickier version of burning a CD in iTunes and then ripping them into MP3s...oops, did I say that out loud?
