There were two movies revolving, in some way, around Jane Austen that came out at the same time unto an audience that would rarely be interested in even one (see also Becoming Jane [17]). Being the (generally) better reviewed but less commercial of the two, Club is an engrossing story about love set against the backdrop of a book club about, who else, Jane Austen.
