I’ve read that Act Of Valor is a film that your going to either love or hate. Personally I love it, but I can see how it might be a bit much for some people to handle. The film is pretty straight forward in its direction. The cast is made up of some pretty familiar faces as well as faces were seeing for the first time, that being the real life active duty Navy Seals in the film. It never once deviates from it’s core message, that this is a film about a military brotherhood, men who love what they do and love their country, and that this is a film about those men kicking a lot of ass. No, I’m serious, the film is all action. In any case if you give the film a chance and look at it as a film about a bunch of guys kicking ass and taking names without allowing yourself to get dragged into the whole political argument your going to enjoy yourself. So how does it look and sound on Blu-Ray?

PICTURE AND AUDIO QUALITY:
The cons are that some scenes have slight grain, it’s very miniscule and if your not being asked to review the film on its picture quality it probably won’t even bother you, but there you have it. The camera has its moments where the style is more documentary, zooming in and out sporadically, which messes with the focus and blurs the picture for nanoseconds at a time. If you accept it as part of the aesthetic it probably isn’t going to raise any red flags but there it is. Other then that the film looks pretty fantastic. Black levels are rich and deep, colors are vibrant and organic, and detail, when not being messed about with by camera manipulation, is spot on. There’s far too much going for the film in the plus column including the sound quality which is immersive and boisterous putting the lfe output to the test with the films constant action sequences. Expect a glorious home theater experience with this one.
