“Chicago P.D.” is set to return for their second season on September 24th at 10pm ET on NBC. If you need to catch up, the complete first season was released earlier this month. The TV show follows Chicago Police Department’s District 21 patrol officers and the detectives of their Intelligence Unit. The show is executive produced by Dick Wolf, who has also been a huge part of Law & Order, its spin-off shows, and Chicago Fire. This is a great police drama that takes you to the underworld of Chicago and the people that protect the public from them.

From the first episode to the last, this show is filled with twists, turns, and exceitment. I was not sure what to expect by the end of each episode and was very impressed with the writing. This show manages to grab your attention and not let go until they are ready. The action was non-stop, the plot development was at the right pace, and the character development was properly done. The characters were very likelable and multi-dimensional. The only gripe I had with the show was the streotypical uptight and boring techie Detective Jin. He didn’t bring too much to the show and could have been left out.

Other than that minor flaw, I absolutely fell in love with the show. Dick Wolf manages to push the envelope again with this show and make cop dramas fresh and new. I also loved the cameos from his other shows and intertwining plots. I highly recommended this show to my mom, who loves her cops dramas, and think you should check it out for sure. The 1st season hooked me in and I am impatiently waiting for the season 2 premiere. For those reasons, I am giving Chicago P.D. an “A.”
