Made up of the previously released Part 7 and Part 8 Blu-Ray‘s, season four continues the edited, restored and remastered story of Dragon Ball Z without the filler.

In this chapter Cell has reached his full form and the only one left to meet his challenge is Gohan, with Goku accepting retirement after his battle with Cell. Needless to say the season four collection is a barrage of fight sequences that seem to never end as the show reaches it’s climax. So how did it look?

PICTURE QUALITY:
Fans of the series will already know that the show looks vastly improved over the original DBZ. Colors are vivid and bright and well represented in the series. Sharpness and definition aren’t as great. Again, the show is a vast improvement over the original picture but fails to come across in the kind of BD quality I was hoping for. Lots of soft shots, some poor line definition. Mind you the series is old, and from my experience old anime can only look so good if its original picture quality wasn’t really all that up to par. The positives are that the picture quality is improved and the sound for the series is boosted to HD level quality. Just don’t expect perfection.
