Here Come The Mummies offer up their latest fantastic release, Cryptic. The album contains 12 new tracks from the band that show off HCTM’s funk rock style that can be placed up their with Funkadelic and Infectious Groove.

My first mistake going into this album was mistaking Here Come The Mummies for The Mummies. My Bad, but you can see how I could have made that mistake. So when the album came on and I got hit with this massive dose of funk music, I was a bit surprised. As the album rolled on though I realized my mistake and simply enjoyed what I was listening to.

The band mixes funk with reggae and rock in a way that’s not new, but for me, in this day and age when I am swamped by radio hits and an endless amount of Hardcore acts, this was refreshing.

Sticking to the formula of most funk outfits, the lyrics were humorous, the music skillful yet playful, and the over all mood was relaxed. There were a couple of tracks on the album that seemed to be a bit out of sorts with the rest of the album, maybe it’s because that attempted to play to an older version of a specific genre in the chorus, but all in all Here Come The Mummies provide their listeners with great music and good times in a sincere package of tunes. Well worth checking out.
