Hugh Laurie: Didn't it rain

Hugh Laurie released “Didn’t it Rain” on May 2013. This is his second album after the success and critical acclaim he received from his first album, “Let them Talk.” His musical style can be described as old-fashioned blues with a 20’s mix. If he looks familiar, he should because Hugh played Dr. Gregory House on the hit Fax TV show “House” for 8 seasons. Even I didn’t know he was a musician and was surprised when I found this out.

I was impressed with Hugh and how talented he is as both an actor and a musician. I am not a big of the Blues genre, but I really liked this album. The songs were upbeat, about various themes and topics, and had a nice variety. My favorite song on the album was “Kiss of Fire,” but the rest of the songs were nicely done and this was overall a good album. The singing, the lyrics, and the overall arrangement of the songs were well thought out and fun to listen too.

Hugh Laurie is a man of many talents and this album showed a totally different side of him. If you like Blues or 20’s music, this is the perfect album for you. I was not sure what to expect when I read about this album, but liked everything about it. I do recommend checking out “Didn’t it Rain” if you have a chance to experience what I experienced. For those reasons, I am giving this album an “A-.”
