Running Time:
80 minutes

My imagination was running wild at the title, Lady of the Dark: Genesis of the Serpent Vampire, and everything I imagined was better than this movie. Some movies are terrible. Some movies are boring. And some movies are terrible, boring, make no sense and... what? Sorry. I got lost there thinking about what I saw.

Basically, you have this woman, Eve, who gets bitten by a snake and slowly turns into a man-eating vampire serpent woman. If this had been a short film, it would have been tolerable. If this had been a very short film or music video, it might have been good. But there just isn't enough here to sustain 80 minutes, especially with the director's vision of it essentially being a one woman show. Even walks around the house and music plays, and then she gets bit by a snake. She walks around more, again set to music. She attacks someone. She walks up some stairs. She trades in her white clothes for black clothes. She kills some people. All of this is set to music. It's an 80 minute music video.

Lady of the Dark is a complete waste of time. Well, perhaps if you just want to see Melanie Denholme naked it isn't a complete waste, but there are probably places on the Internet you can see that without having to suffer through this terrible movie.

On the other hand, the music isn't completely awful. It may not be for everyone, but if you were to put this movie on and then not watch it, but just listen while doing somethign else, maybe it's okay. Here is an example of one of the songs so you can judge if you might enjoy it.
