Marc Berger's "Ride" is a good old-fashioned country-like album. I have to say Country-like because the melodies sound Country but it has this Rock edge to it. It's gritty. Marc is an older musician so I can appreciate the wise edge he portrays in his music and lyrics. He reminds me of the late Johnny Cash. Marc portrays what the young folks call 'swag'. He rides the beats of the music flawlessly. I can hear one of Marc Berger's song's playing in the background to a roadtrip scene on the television series SuperNatural. Anyone who watches Supernatural knows what I'm talking about so, no explanations needed.
My favorite song has to be "Time Waits For No Man". A story about Marc (or just a randomn guy on a roadtrip) traveling on the road in a used van. He stops at a hotel, could be a truckstop, and meets a girl. He talks of the spontanity of hooking up with her. He leaves her for a second to get a drink at the store. He comes back, and she got him! His used van is gone and now, he's hitching on the side of the road. Classic Karma story and he tells it and sings it well.
I enjoyed the album. It's pretty good since I'm not a Country music or even a Rock music everyday listener. I can appreciate Berger's music and would definitely listen to the album again. Especially my new favorite song.
