A nice four-piece out of NYC featuring Julia Preotu on vocals who sounds a lot like a cross between Gwen Stefani and Debbie Harry ("Hello Hello). This is a good thing. Backing her up are Leon Lyazidi (guitar/keyboads), James Kluz (drums), and Nate Meng (bass). Together they are MeTalkPretty. They play music and fight crime. Ok, maybe not the crime part, but that would be cool.

"We Are Strangers" is the first full-length release for MeTalkPretty following up an EP release in July 2010. "Strangers" is a solid, stronghard-hitting record with no sappy ballads,  thankfully, but I have to admit that each track started to blend into the next toward the end. The standout songs for me were "Wake Up" and "Brokenhearted." I think they represent the band the best and how well they work together. There is definite radio potential with these.

I don't know if it's just the mixing on this record, but it's really loud, especially the vocals, and the rest of the band just gets lost in the shuffle. I would have liked to have had less big voice and more backup, but overall, MeTalkPretty is worth a listen. "We Are Strangers" can be found on iTunes and Amazon, and you can preview before you commit to purchase.

They have played several music festivals and even won the MTV VMA award for Best Breakout Artist in NYC in 2009. Visit www.metalkpretty.com for more tour information.
