Unsure of how and where he might fit into the popular music of today, Ure took his time to create what he hoped to be music that sticks to your heart. The liner notes express not only apprehension, but the need to create. Truly a solo project Ure played every instrument, did all the producing, engineering and mixing by himself to create the sound he missed and wanted to hear.

Midge Ure’s twelfth release, Fragile, is a mature, mellow and melodic album that celebrates love, acknowledges those dark travels we all must take, and surviving it all. Fragile’s rich and layered synths merge with gently whispered lyrics to create a serene thoughtful and ambiance. The resulting sound is encompassing, is an EQ obsessed listener's dream.

Only Become sticks out as a very, almost classically English, new wave pop track that infuses an intense nostalgia in the listener. The moving instrumental, Wire & Wood, begins with claustrophobic, melancholy guitar, moody with worry and transforms into plucky, hopeful strings backed by triumphant horns; signifying the calm after the storm.

Made despite Ure’s own anxieties, I found that listening to Fragile, could truly calm some of my own. The music is so atmospheric, exuding tranquility, and utterly hopeful that by the time you finish the album titled track, you feel renewed.
