THE LEGEND OF AWESOMEST MAXIMUS:
Born to be the best general the world has ever seen, it’s the job of Awesomest Maximus (played by Will Sasso) to protect the lands of Troy. With his legion of warriors, Maximus and Orlando (played by Gary Lundy) King Loony (played by Rip Torn) sends his army into the lands of Greece to make sure no war is started. Seeing Princess Ellen (played by Sophia Monk), Orlando convinces her to run away with him back to Troy but when her husband King Erotic (played by Khary Payton) learns of his wife’s betrayal a war is inevitable. Having the fiercest warrior Testiclees (played by Ian Ziering), Maximus finds himself facing a battle for both his life and the safety of Troy that he might not win.

ANOTHER NATIONAL LAMPOONS SPOOF:
The Legend of Awesomest Maximus is yet another parody/spoof of gladiator style movies. Even if you have only seen the trailers to the movies, you would be able to know which ones they are spoofing and what a horrible job that’s been done. Basically this 91 minute long movie tries to be funny by taking some actual good movies and turning them into running jokes and nudity. If you took the actual movies this movie spoofs off of and then make it a comedy, that’s what you get with The Legend of Awesomest Maximus.

National Lampoon’s movies are a hit or miss, sometimes they can be really good and other times they end up being like The Legend of Awesomest Maximus. All the jokes, the slapstick humor, and everything else that’s used to try to make this movie funny doesn’t work. As I sit here writing this I’m trying to remember when I laughed while watching the movie but I can’t recall a single time that I even chuckled, smiled, or smirked. Nothing was funny to me with this movie, the jokes where lame, the acting was flat, and nearly every joke was about sex or women. From the way this movie was I figure that it has to be meant for people that are just turning 18 or anyone with no real sense of humor. Not that I am against the sexual natured jokes or the nudity, which there is a whole lot of nudity in this movie, but only when it is actually funny and is not the core of the movie.

THE SPOOF ON BLU RAY:
Though the movie was horrible, distasteful for the most part, and is about as funny as a screen door on a submarine, the picture quality of it is not that bad. It’s not the best Blu Ray has to offer in terms of the picture quality but it is was better than I was expecting it would be. I really didn’t see any noise or grain in the picture, the colors where sharp and clear, and the sound levels were clear. The only thing missing with this Blu Ray were the special features, which are none at all.
