Tired Birds

Mark Edwards aka OME and his experimental one man effort Tired Birds is both interesting and worth a listen.

The album opens with "Mourning Doves", an airy instrumental with what sounds like humming and vocal sounds but no real words.  It sets the stage perfectly for "Soul on Fire" which comes after and sounds much like the Pet Sounds era of the Beach Boys.  Through the rest of the album his mixture of electronic samples and looping effects and his vocal layering results in a collection of unique songs that sound not quite like anything I’ve heard before, but not so different as to be jarring.

In fact, while listening to the album, I found myself grasping for words to describe it, wondering to myself exactly how I was going to write a review for it.  Ultimately I settled on liking the music, but you should judge for yourselves.
