PHINEAS AND FERB:
In a galaxy that's a good ways off during a time that was awhile ago, there were two brothers that really loved their summer vacations from school. These two brothers are Phineas and Ferb, and they live on the twin sun planet of Tatooine where they really love their sand covered planet. Having never traveled or wanting to travel off planet, the two brothers find themselves caught in the middle of a galactic battle between the Rebels and the Empire. A disc containing the stolen plans to the Death Star ends up in their possession and with the help of some friends like Agent P and pilot Isabella Garcia-Shapiro, the two brothers will face down the evil Empire. Will they be able to survive the experience as they go up against such threats like Darth Vader, Stormtrooper Candace, Faljeet, and Buford, as well as facing Darthenshmirtz or will Phineas be taken down by his own brother Ferb when he turns to the Dark Side?
THE LOST PARTS OF STAR WARS:
If you are a Star Wars fan you will like this. It don't matter if you know the cartoon Phineas and Ferb because this special really has nothing to do with their characters being set in their normal show. If you want to know what happens (well it's "not cannon") between, before, during, and after some of the most important scenes in A New Hope, then you should really watch this DVD. Knowing Star Wars would help and does make this DVD more enjoyable, but I think even if you had only watched the movie once, you would get the gist of this special. It's set during the first Star Wars movie, which for anyone that don't know, Episode IV (4) is the first Star Wars movie and that's where Phineas and Ferb start off their adventure.
To say that this was a funny special would be like saying that the sun is hot, it's just obvious. I've seen a few of the regular episodes of the cartoon Phineas and Ferb, I enjoyed them, I like the so called evil Heinz Doofenshirtz over all the other characters, but this Star Wars spoof special was just great. Disney didn't waste any time with this property and getting it put in with their shows but in this case it works well. I was apprehensive about this because I thought it was going to be a ploy to get all the hardcore Star Wars fans to watch Phineas and Ferb just because it was Star Wars related but then it would be lame. Not the case. It takes the main scenes of Star Wars A New Hope but intertwines Phineas and Ferb and all the characters from the show into the movie. It's also done really well while not only making it fun but if you where to say that this cartoon was set in the Star Wars universe it would actually make sense.
This is set up to make it fill in the areas that you didn't see in the movie, like how the plans for the Death Star was stolen and by whom. You get to see what happens after Luke, Obi-Wan, Han, and Chewie leave Mos Eisley, and what happened to those remaining Stormtroopers on the Death Star, as well as so much more. This is really a whole lot of fun to watch and it made me laugh so much that by the time that I finished it I was wanting to watch it again. The characters of Phineas and Ferb is mixed in well with the Star Wars characters, like having Isabella having a feud with Han Solo, it's a smooth blending of the two universes into one that makes sense. This is a great show to watch when you want to just laugh and get some Star Wars in. But if that's not enough, there are 5 extra episodes added onto the disc that are holiday themed that are fun to watch as well. Not as great as the Star Wars one, but I also laughed and enjoyed those bonus episodes as well. In fact, I enjoyed this Star Wars special so much that talking about it has made me want to watch it again. Well done Disney, you surprised me with this.
