Talk about being a new group, not even Amazon.com has anything on the group Sugar Red Drive yet. This is another band I had never heard about so had to do a little searching on the web to try to find some info. What I found is that this band hasn't been around for long but here they are now with this album titled Sugar Red Drive.
But before I went digging into any information on the web about Sugar Red Drive I wanted to listen to the songs. After listening to the 11 songs for the first time I had to go back and listen to them again. I was of mixed opinon. With some of the songs I found them to be a little bland while others were pretty good. Then with some it was as if I was waiting for the song to really take off and start jamming out some hardcore notes but after it was over and none of that happened I was left wondering what happened.
Regardless of that, the total experience was a decent one. I was reminded of some of the better groups that came out in the early part of 2000's. Though the vocals are good, they are smooth, the vocals had that same feeling of on the edge of getting ready to rock but never reaching that climax. Around the third time I listened to the songs I wasn't that impressed anymore with the vocals. Sure they still had the even tone to them, they still sounded the same, but I just didn't get excited to hear them.
I don't know if it was because the songs are rock and they have that feeling of wanting to be hard rock but just don't make it but whatever the reason it felt as if I had been listening to the group for a very long time. What I see coming for this band is that they will make it, they will do good, and all this is because they make good radio songs. Yes that's right, they are a new radio band that will be on the alternative radio station and will be played a lot. Their songs are good enough for that but just don't quite hit the mark of being exciting.
