The pop music scene is currently ruled by boy bands such as One Direction and The Wanted so at first glance, The After Party looks like another group of young men trying to take advantage of the craze. Once you listen to their latest EP “Kansas” you’ll realize that these guys are actually quite decent.

“Kansas” features many of the typical songs you’d expect out of a pop album. A majority of the songs are about a girl and the band professing their love for said woman.  The difference in this situation is that these guys can actually sing. Their voices aren’t hidden behind a multitude of synthesizers and audio equipment. It’s just them and their instruments, primarily consisting of acoustic guitars.

That’s what I like about The After Party. Their music gives you all-around good vibes with its upbeat melodies and feel-good lyrics. Their music would definitely be categorized in the pop genre, which isn’t for everyone, but give them a shot. You might just be surprised.
