It’s been years since I last watch The Big Bang Theory, but honestly that’s not that big a problem because the formula has remained the same since the beginning. The only difference now is that in addition to a bunch of guys telling relatively tame science and nerd culture jokes there are also a bunch of women doing the same.

The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Eighth Season includes notable guest stars Stephen Root, Billy Bob Thornton, LeVar Burton, Stephen Hawking, and Nathan Fillion. Like many seasons, there’s a decent blend of celebrities and notable figures in the science world.

QUALITY:

The Blu-ray quality is pretty good. I found that the picture can be oversaturated in certain episodes, but other than that it’s on par with most Blu-rays. Now, if only there was an option to remove the laugh track from the audio settings.

BONUS FEATURES:

  • 2014 Comic-Con Panel
  • Shooting Stars: BBT on BBT
  • Constellation Prize
  • Here’s to You, Carol Ann Susi
  • It’s a Quark...It’s an Atom...It’s the #BBTSuperfans!
  • Gag Reel

The special features are surprisingly unique. I was especially glad to see them pay tribute to Carol Ann Susi, who voiced Mrs. Wolowitz throughout the series until she unfortunately passed away from cancer last November. It was definitely a nice addition.

Overall, The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Eighth Season is simply okay. The show hasn’t really changed that much in the eight years it’s been on the air, but I guess if it isn’t broken there’s nothing to fix.
