The Jungle Bunch all starts with a little egg that gets swept off into the sea and ends up in a jungle climate where the little penguin is raised by a tiger. This story unfolds throughout the opening credits, this is significant. Meanwhile back in the penguins frosty homeland walruses have come out in full force demanding that every year the penguins give them half of their fish or else. What’s a community of defenseless birds to do?

There is a tale of a great tiger warrior that will someday come to liberate the penguins. In hopes of finding this great tiger warrior a brother and sister travel hundreds of miles to the jungle where they meet Maurice (John Lithgow), the great tiger warrior. Is he great or is he fake? That’s still to be determined. All the brother and sister know is that they need him and his 7 mighty warriors to aid them in ridding their home of the walrus threat. Can Maurice guide his misfit team to victory or will the walrus front be too much for the somewhat delusional penguin?

Yeah, you read that right. It does sound an awful lot like A Bugs Life and it pretty much plays out like it as well. It’s just a cheaper generic version of that film with a few new twists here and there. It was cute and a bit of fun but didn’t seem like a huge effort was made here. The borrowed storyline, the lame boar that wants to be Elvis and has a few horrible musical numbers, and the generic sounding title. It’s all kind of just, meh. I enjoyed watching it the one time, my kids got a few chuckles out of it, but it was far from memorable.
